Farmer's Almanac predicting another severe Winter in the Great Lakes/Atlantic states regions...

http://patch.com/new-jersey/westfield/farmers-almanac-snowy-bitter-cold-winter-ahead-nj-0

Therefore, we can again expect (if this is correct) a strong jet stream as a result. My hope is that the well below average North Atlantic SST's will result in a more Southerly jet with potential for better height rises over Greenland.

Further, the hope that the below average SST's result in less moderation of upper air.

Is that like the 100 days of snow Nathan Rao forecast last year?  Regarding winter 62/63, in my area the coldest winter in the 20th century started in mid-December '62, while the cold finally relented in the last couple of days of February '63.  I was there!

I think so. Even the 'building blocks' might have been 'in place'? They are most years. :D

Another James Madden Exacta Weather doom mongering forecast, which is virtually the same story as last year, oh and the year before, oh and the year before that.... Not surprising that it is reported by the Express, as it was last year... One day the one forecast he has produced may actually come some way close to fruition (or maybe not)!

:nonono:

I'm still waiting for one correct weather prediction from him. :nonono: According  to Madden, I should have been digging myself out of snow drifts these past three winters :nonono: Instead, I have had above average temperatures with above average drizzle. He really should sack himself and do something else,  shelf filler coordinator, (shelf stacker) in Tesco maybe, hard to mess that up. :D

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
