With state of the art technology and the latest info available at the flick of a switch I fail to see why the public should have to put up with out of date forecasts. In this fast moving situation its

I've only gone and done it. This went to the Press Complaints Commission this morning....         1i) The Press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted information, including

Record breaking 5 feet snow drifts!! - really? certainly had bigger drifts in 1987 than that! - anyway to cut a long story short the 'big freeze' goes on until mid-February, milder weather soon after next weekend then. :)

Got a feeling the Express might be onto something this time....they've backed it up with some pretty impressive pictures if you read the captions...

I found this very strange as by sheer chance my wife had brought and bought for me the S Express this morning and couldn't find anything remotely like this piece. So it is not to sell 'copies'.

After reading the Article (which was posted at 15:30 this afternoon) I saw Pearce Corbyn's name all over it!!!

No further explanation necessary?

MIA

Edit Sorry Phil, just saw yours above after posting.

That Express Article is a classic!

They should have some input from the members on this forum for balance however.

That way they could have headlines like;

One centimetre of slush on the way!

Cold rain to bring misery to millions who don't live on a mountain!

Mild sector to dampen not just spirits!

Marginal uppers to cause havoc on the streets of London!

And my personal favourite

Wishbone showers forecast to slam into UK coastal strip and areas up to five miles inland!

Sorry for being off topic mods. Just trying to keep the mood nice and light!

I thought you were the editor of The Daily Express, from your previous posts. :)

Nope.

My views (and posts which reflect my views) regarding this upcoming spell have been and are just a realistic take on things and based on what in my opinion the models show.

Not over the top like the Express article and not pessimistic like some in the model thread.

I will be the first to hold my hands up and accept I was wrong if this cold spell goes mammaries vertical.

Being a former Southeast snow lover I hope (and believe) more than most that you guys will get some decent snow out of this upcoming spell.

Lets just hope that Express article hasn't jinxed me though!

Great to know Piers has written to Government’s Cabinet Office Briefing Room (COBRA) committee urging them to take immediate action. I can sleep easy now.

I'm getting worried now.....I've heard there's reports of a prank call being made to the Prime Minister.

what if it was Piers and they're not taking him seriously??!!!

NYC mayor: Snowstorm could be worst ever

The Northeast was bracing Sunday for a monstrous winter storm that could trigger massive power outages and slam the brakes on air traffic and rush hours from Philadelphia deep into New England. About 29 million people were under a blizzard warning as of late Sunday, and another 11 million in a winter storm warning, according to the National Weather Service.

New York City could see up to 20 inches of snow Monday into Tuesday, the weather service predicted. Parts of New England could see 2 feet or more. High winds could cause whiteout conditions, bring down power lines and otherwise aggravate the weather disaster. "This could be the biggest snowstorm in the history of this city," Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a Sunday press conference. "My message for New Yorkers is prepare for something worse than we have ever seen before."

Could we ever get 90cm of snow from a single blizzard like North East us ?

Yh we could a big storm from the west bumping into cold air from the east its happened many times in the past. Less likely in the future in my opinion due to climate change but the risk is always there.
