Express at it again http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-the-papers-30356337.

Of course some snow in North West Scotland over the next few days definitely means a white christmas is on the way.

The express and star are as bad as each other when it comes to weather stories

I get an old paper every couple of weeks from a relative to use as a liner in the bird cage, basically he covers their crap with his.

I think the Express do with snow to older people, what the Daily Mail do to UKIP voters.

APOLCALYPTIC snow to hit the UK and it will be here for 10 YEARS!

15 MILLION immigrants to arrive in the UK TOMORROW and they'll be living in YOUR HOUSE!

Same mass hysteria effect.

No different to what the Guardian do by saying global temps will be 5c higher on average in 80 years time.

It's tempting to take a lot of the Daily Express headlines about snow and ice with a pinch of salt.

Only there's usually very little need for any salt at all

from teh weekend, headline

UK weather: 'Horrendous' conditions of snow and ice expected as weather warnings issued for much of UK

so a Met office spokesperson told their sister paper "The worst effected region will be Scotland, where “across the tops of the Scottish mountains it will be pretty horrendous,†a spokesperson told the Evening Standard.

Truely amzing headline there LOULLA-MAE ELEFTHERIOU-SMITH

I know it's extreme but surely they should get into legal trouble for causing panic, because I cannot tell you the amount of times our elderly neighbours have got in a panic because the Express has told of awful weather and they get worried because they haven't got enough supplies or aren't sure they can afford the heating etc. I imagine it's the same for many. It's really irresponsible and they could end up killing someone one day.

Any other business would be strung up for publicising such nonsense.

WEATHER BOMB about to hit the uk!

While I guess the terms are somewhat correct. I just hate the way the DM reports it... Grr

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2865214/Forecasters-issue-snow-ice-warnings-Britain-ahead-80mph-Atlantic-storm-strike-later-week.html

A violent storm was today developing quickly in the Atlantic Ocean as Britain prepared to be hit by 80mph winds later this week.

The system, known as an ‘explosive cyclogenesis’ or a ‘weather bomb’, is expected to pass just to the south of Iceland – staying far away from the UK.

But it will affect Britain by bringing wet and windy conditions tomorrow night, which will stay for Wednesday and possibly Thursday.

Today, parts of northern England and Scotland were blanketed in snow as cars were seen abandoned and drivers were urged to take extra care.

Sad day when you see "scandal makers" moving in on the weather, can only guess the tabloids have no seedy Strictly dancing in the jungle on ice stuff to be reporting on.

Any guess as to why this quote from Leon Brown of the Weather Channel didn't merit being pulled out as a headline?

Temperatures will be up and down every couple of days as each Atlantic depression passes the north, but averaging near normal with nothing extreme."

Anyway, isn't it a bit early to predict "explosive deepeners/weather bombs" with any certainty for Wednesday?

Uh Oh the Mirror are on to it now, as PC has said....

" Piers Corbyn, of WeatherAction, said: “We are expecting at least three weeks of very cold, severe weather. The country should be prepared for disruption.â€"

We are are we?

Oh well there goes a white Christmas, thanks PC......

Their title suggests -9C, I suppose somebody forgot (yeah right) to inform then that with such a deep low pressure, winds gusting on top of the Scottish mountains where temperatures are 2C and the wind gust is 80mph, will generate a windchill of -9C.

Oh well.

Express at it again......just for a change

STORM OF CENTURY: Britain to be smashed by hurricane-force wind and blizzards from TONIGHT

A COLOSSAL storm brewing in the Atlantic is about to smash into Britain unleashing hurricane-force winds, torrential rain and blizzards. The deepest and most powerful low pressure system for A CENTURY is currently hurtling towards the west coast where mammoth 50-ft waves threaten mayhem. These terrifying images show a gigantic sea swell on a direct collision course with Britain with landfall expected to hit tonight and through tomorrow. As the giant low pressure system moves eastwards the entire UK will be engulfed by its swirling, storm-triggering tendrils.

Swathes of the country are on severe flood alert right through until the weekend as the Atlantic Ocean throws itself inland in its most brutal attack since last winter. The storm is even showing signs of overshadowing devastating storm Bertha which left a trail of destruction when it struck in August. The Met Office has issued a raft of weather warnings right across the country until the weekend with MAJOR DISRUPTION expected.

Piers Corbyn, forecaster for WeatherAction, said: “The massive storm heading for Britain will bring blizzard conditions for most parts and damaging gales or storms widely. “This will probably be the most extreme five days of snow blizzards and and gales in Britain and Ireland for 100 years, being more severe than the worst events of December 2010.†The eye of the system, which will pass over the north of Britain on Wednesday, has a pressure of 952mb and will rival the historic storm of 1987 which was driven by a low of 951mb.

"The massive storm heading for Britain will bring blizzard conditions for most parts"

I bet it doesn't Piers.

I'm quite confident that Piers will claim success whatever the outcome...

Lol, A Dec 2010 or 09, would be like xmas come early!

I do think these papers get worse every year. Pretty soon it will be "Warnings as Drizzle and temperatures of 3 Degrees look set to paralyse the entire UK!"
