We're currently on route to Amarillo to try and catch some storms firing this afternoon, but for the evenings entertainment one of the guests, Jim Ford, has accepted the 72oz steak challenge!

Meal consists of: Shrimp Cocktail, Baked Potato, Salad, with Roll, Butter, and of course the 72 oz. Steak and EVERYTHING must be eaten within 1 hour!

At the moment we're not sure on the timing but we'll aim to keep this thread updated and we have also set up a facebook page. Anyone can join the facebook group here http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_232925366722589 and Arron will keep on top of the request both here and on facebook as best he can.

The link to the webcam for the big texan is here http://www.bigtexan.com/free72.html

I'm going to estimate it will be between 8 and 9pm US (2am UK) time which is roughly 5 hours from now, but this could be earlier if the weather gods don't play ball :)

Good luck Jim,

You can always try the testicles if you change your mind.

I ate them by accident - they are very chewy!!

YUM! :D

There is a lesson here,

Don't go to Hoots bar beforehand and don't sit near Ian M.

Anyway I am sure that Ian M is glad that you are heading to Amarillo. He did tell me that you are always likely to see the best storms there - no matter what the risk!

I reckon a Netweather storm chase t-shirt would look good on the live stream.......

Good luck Jim. I may or may not be alive as you feast on what appears to be a mighty fine meal. I take it you'll be on the roof bars tomorrow? :D

love this sort of challenge, the dog inn at pentrich in derbyshire some 15 years ago would organise large steak nights if booked in advance.

were there good nights or what, first time i went i had a 24 oz steak my mate had the 32oz so 2 months later we went back minibus and 12 of us again, this time i pushed out the boat and went for the

32oz steak, but not good enough 3 lads had and eat the 48oz and two others finished off the 64oz steak ( it was unreal) and to add as a footnote the two lads who ate the 64oz steaks also followed up by eating the four puddings on the menu, spoted dick, treacle pudding, apple crumble and ice creame, all washed down with 6 pints.

first and only time that you got a whole plot of mustard with your steak, and believe me two fried eggs on the steak, and a jacket potatoe.

what a night, the things you do when your 21. :yahoo::drinks: :drinks:

Too much beer beforehand and they came battered with an assortment of other battered goodies. To be quite honest they were quite a relief after munching through a super hot battered chilli.

To be honest folks, even though they were out of 72oz steaks i saw the size of the last 3 ordered and would have bottled it. They are just unreal in size and the 18oz i finished up with was really tough as old boots, so glad it didn't happen. think the bravado took over from sensibility whilst driving.

Still i did eat the slad 3 shrimp and bread roll.

As for Mr Fishy's nose bleed, well he gave an iaccurate forecast to Paul so he punched him!......not really, just got set off by the altitude i expect, 4000ft asl

I am confused , i was going to say that the trucks full of flippin cows roll back and fowards all day and all night - then I remembered that we saw one full of cows which had rolled over, with cows everywhere. Must have been on the way to the Big Texan <_<

The live stream was the closest I got to the Big Texan this year. Never even visited Texas at all.. Crazy...
