And that ignorant, offensive, rant sums up exactly why the YES campaign failed

Good god. What a load of boarish spiteful bile from bad losers has been posted during the night. I actually dread to think how Scotland would be run if this is representative of how the yes vote behav

I'm disappointed in the lack of grace shown by some across the net in accepting this No vote. A complete lack of any empathy and understanding as to why fellow Scots didn't vote Yes.   I personally

    1. Robert Peston â€@Peston 12m
    2. Saw bunch of bankers last night betting on Scotland to vote no. & Betfair pays out on "no" bets. Markets can be wrong http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/leisure/11098848/Betfair-pays-out-early-on-Scottish-independence-No-vote.html â€¦

    1. Retweeted by Robert Peston

@Peston Betfair says 78% of Scottish customers' bets are on Yes, English punters back No. One London-based punter put £55k on No last week.

and on another note my uncle one of the family who was voting no who is a really strong labour man he grew up along side and is really good friends with Gordon brown he even went out campaigning with him in 79 for a no vote has just told me he is voting YES because in his words 'I'm sick of listening to what Gordon brown is saying just now he is doing nothing but talking out his back end' totally brilliant lol

Perhaps if Labour had allowed one, just one, public meeting by their party as opposed to controlled crowds then it might not ave come to this.

And don't confuse angry yet non-violent protest with 'mayhem'.

No rioting, no looting. Just democracy.

Salmond is lying to you all probably aswell. All Salmond wants IMO is to be potentially the first head of Scotland and to go down in history, he is just as power hungry as any other politician, don't know why a lot of you think otherwise. The normal working folk of Scotland won't see any of this additional wealth that so many of you tout. Like any other country in the world It's only the rich that get richer, it won't be any different in a independent Scotland. Anyone that thinks that a independent Scotland will be a garden of eden is either round the bend or been seriously brain washed IMO. 20 years time an Independent Scotland will still be the same as it is now, except your be able make your own decisions whether to boot your very own lying, corrupt Scottish politicians out of parliment yourselves.

    Poor old Millipede.

Before my Socialist Nan and Granda past away, if I told them that within 15 years of their death a Labour, yes Labour leader would be heckled and jeered in Scotland's capital, they would have laughed at me.

That, my friends, is how far Labour has fallen in the eyes of the people of Scotland.

I don't condone the heckling and bad language though.

    From BBC

16:21: Miliband melee Norman Smith BBC Assistant Political Editor

There have been chaotic scenes in Edinburgh city centre as the Labour leader Ed Miliband attempted to do a walkabout amongst shoppers.

Mr Miliband was surrounded by a melee of pro and anti independence supporters as he tried to walk through the St James shopping centre in Edinburgh.

Planned interviews with the media had to be abandoned amidst the scrum.

Mr Miliband played down the scenes as he struggled to meet any voters. He eventually had to be escorted out of a rear exit of the shopping centre.

Can't find anything on the assertion that "78% of Scottish bets back yes, English punters back no".

However, that 78% figure is suspiciously close to the figure of certainty of 79% Betfair themselves give for a "No" victory.

Has Jamie McKeever got access to different information, or has he got it twisted. Have I?

I'd be fairly happy with that! It is after all a huge step forward compared to being able to do 'diddley squat' to boot out the current crop of lying, corrupt Westminster politicians.

That's fair enough but I don't understand all these people that think they are going to be living in some kind of paradise (richer than ever, better services than ever) that every country in the world will look to in envy because of your amazing lifestyles lol. Seriously that's not gonna happen IMO.

Can't believe that you have to ask that question! AS would bask in the glory in achieving Independence and then leave the mess for someone else to clear up.......

The likes of Norway and Denmark have many many many many years head start on Scotland. There is no guarantee what so ever that you will end up like them. It's a nice dream to have but the reality will more than likely be very different IMO.

I'm not ruling that out as a possibility, BUS. It's just that it looks like (to me at least) he's read that article that Paul originally posted on the last page and misquoted/misinterpreted the information in it.

Why do I think this? Because he quoted the 55k figure in that article and was just 1% out on the other quoted figure. He even says that his source is betfair themselves.

Again, I could be barking up the wrong tree.

even if we only get to 70-80% towards what they have compared to what we have now I would be more than happy about it infact any moves towards that would make me happy maybe instead of all moaning about this you should all wake up and start voting for socialist parties for Westmonster and see if you can have your lives improved

Who exactly are there paradise seekers? I live here, have talked to lots of people of both Yes and No inclination and I've not met one who expects paradise. The reality is that the UK/Scotland currently does enjoy a lifestyle that much of the world would envy though. Yes there are problems with inequality, foodbanks etc that must be addressed but in reality the vast bulk of things are likely to remain relatively unchanged.

In the same vein, I don't believe the picture of a desolate wasteland full of empty office blocks and crumbling hospitals that the No campaign are currently punting.

For me personally, at least try to address inequality, stop spending billions of Trident and Offense (Defence I'm fine with), protect the NHS and free education, invest in renewables and most of all allow Scotland to decide which idiots govern it. Give me that and I'll be happy, even if I personally have to pay a little more for it. I'm not after a free set of gold-plated taps for my bathroom, that's for sure!

Yeah labour did a great job of handing out millions of pounds of welfare payments thus creating lots of lazy ass people milking the benefits system. Socialism!!! - christ no thanks, quickest way to ruin a country that is.
