As for you taking offence at my comment about Ukraine, etc, I was talking very particularly about BUS and his idea that the world of the 80s was far more worrying than the world of today.

Out of interest, where are you getting the figures for this? I mean the 'Level of worry / how unsafe the world is' numbers?

Is there are a globally recognised monitoring system with accepted standards? Say developed by the UN?

Otherwise, is it not simply a perception of the individual?

    Hmm,

    Looks like a downward trend?

And that ignorant, offensive, rant sums up exactly why the YES campaign failed

Good god. What a load of boarish spiteful bile from bad losers has been posted during the night. I actually dread to think how Scotland would be run if this is representative of how the yes vote behav

I'm disappointed in the lack of grace shown by some across the net in accepting this No vote. A complete lack of any empathy and understanding as to why fellow Scots didn't vote Yes.   I personally

I'll be quite happy to stop being British and start being Scottish ;-)

I've just put up my YES poster in the window.  A proud moment for a Yorkshireman in Scotland.

The amount of YES on windows (cars and houses) is growing by the day.

Ladbrokes: Scottish punters move decisively for YES - 95% of Scottish bets for YES since second debate

*Scottish punters move decisively for YES*

SCOTTISH POLITICAL punters have moved decisively for a YES vote in next
month's referendum, according to new analysis released by Ladbrokes.

The bookies found that since the second debate last Monday, over 95% of all
bets placed in Scotland have been for YES. That has seen the odds tumble
from 9/2 to 7/2 in just a few days. However, gamblers in England are less
convinced, with over 75% of the money staked south of the border going on a
    NO vote.

A breakdown of the betting reveals that the larger-staking customers south
of the border are propping up the 'no' odds, with those on the ground in
Scotland placing smaller bets much keener to back a 'yes' outcome.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "The betting has been non-stop for YES from
our Scottish customers since Alex Salmond's victory in the second debate.
It will be a terrible result for the bookies if the local money is correct."

This is interesting as the odds (on the SNP) in 2011 started shortening a week or so earlier. However, I'd imagine far less betting UK-wide on that election given it probably held little interest. I mean only in the last 2 weeks did it start to appear that the SNP would win bigger than 2007 and no polls got the scale of it right. The closest was a 12 point lead when the SNP got a 16 point one. The average of the 3 polls in the last week was an 11 point lead; 5% lower than the result.

    Does it surprise you?

In addition to a lack of appreciation of how events in Ukraine, the Middle East, and Northern Africa have the potential to alter drastically the world in which we live.

yes events that have happened in part because of Westminster and we are glad to be getting away from that.

    oh and british

As for you taking offence at my comment about Ukraine, etc, I was talking very particularly about BUS and his idea that the world of the 80s was far more worrying than the world of today. Once more: try making sure you've understood a post before replying to it. How is it "disgusting" to post that BUS doesn't seem to appreciate the dangers the world is currently facing? You should be ashamed of calling my post disgusting when you haven't even understood what I was saying.

there has only been one terrorist bombing and two guys attacking a soldier there were far more things went on in the 80's I was merely saying we have people to keep us safe and I gave you 4 count them 4 possibilities of who would keep us safe or do you think the house of commons will empty into the street to fight terrorists

so plz don't make out like I don't care about what is going on in the world when its because of Westminster invading the muslim holy land that we have to deal with this.

    what does chibbing mean? :cc_confused::unknw:

aye you better be scared if someone has said that to you if they live close lock your doors and if there in the room jump out the window quick.

Thanks for the replies! :shok: My brother was in Glasgow the other day and heard this expression, thought it wasn't anything friendly, but I didn't realize it was that! Nobody is threatening to give me a chibbing, thankfully! :drinks:

yeah it is mainly a Glasgow saying and it happens quite a bit through there when I stayed in the east end you couldn't go a few days without someone getting chibbed for something or another you weren't even safe in your own house if someone is determined to chib you.

These three gan in the windae.

    One for each family member.

Just missing the twa dugs (King Charles cavalier spaniels).

Man it's me and 4 ladies here when you include them. Totally outnumbered.

Suppose I could do a 'Woof Woof' one too. I've discussed at length with them both democratic and economic aspects etc; they both gave it the paws up.   :D

In my view BUS, the Yes campaign could and probably will do the same in the next week or so, except delivered to every household instead of postal voters only. It could be the NO campaign have gone too soon with this and now Yes have an opportunity to maximise.
