We are now approaching the time of the year where it never goes completely dark at night and the UK night is actually a lingering twilight. For twilight to end, the sun has to be 18 degrees below the horizon.

Date when Astronomical twilight is not reached for these locations

Lerwick: 21st April

It has come around again. 2 days to go

7 weeks left of lingering twilight.

Sunrise is already pretty much as early as it can get now, nights continue draw out slightly for a couple of weeks yet.

That's a great timelapse that is. I can't wait to see some noctilucent clouds next month

Pretty much at peak now. Mornings will start to draw out in a couple of days and the nights will start the process of drawing in shortly after. By mid July it becomes evident we’re losing daylight, by the 28th July we slip back into true darkness again overnight.
