Weather In Spain

Recommended Posts

Been a very warm early Autumn, particularly for eastern parts of Spain. The October record maximum temperature for Valencia airport according to AEMET was 34.0°C on 10/10/1997 (since 1966) but this has been surpassed twice this month with 34.5°C on 1/10 and 34.3°C on 16/10.

Even yesterday 28/10 reached 33.3°C which is impressive for so late in the month, the November record is 30.4°C.

For the 30 days to 27/10 the mean temperature has been 3.65°C above average, lovely!

Aemet confirmed that it was the warmest October on record for Valencia since 1869, mean temperature 22.4°C being 3.3°C above normal and beating the previous record of 1997 and 2006 by 0.5 degrees.

After some cooler days, initially in the wake of the St Jude's storm, temperatures have recovered and towns in the east could get very close to beating their November maximum records.

Alicante hitting 30C again today. Way above average for the time of year, surely?

We decided to book a weekend in Gran Canaria going 7th - 11th November

Having looked at the forecast it seems that it was a bad time to go as all it will do is rain and there's not much chance of sunshine.

Seems like Spain would have been a better option than the canaries :/

I'm back from Murcia since end of June and it was like that everyday, its amazing to think that now the city has the same weather as it did when I was there in November! It must feel very weird though with the short days and the lower sun angle.

31C in Valencia and Murcia too.

Hard to imagine for November.

Oh I can imagine it alright!

Provisionally the highest temperature was 32.6° at Carcaixent in Valencia province, with November records (limited data) for-

Valencia airport 31.5 (previous 30.4 on 9/11/1985 records since 1966)

Murcia 31.0 (previous 30.6 on 9/11/1985 records since 1984)

Ibiza airport 28.4 (previous 27.2 on 6/11/1985 records since 1953)

and Tortosa 28.2 equalling record from 3/11/1924, records since 1920.

Alicante missed out in the end as sea-breezes set in.

Well the height of the sun there now reaches something similar to mid-September in the British Isles, though the days are shorter.

Don't think there will be much rain unless you are on the north side of the island at elevation.

It could be cloudy at times, but the resorts on the sheltered southern side of the island should be fairly sunny, guessing temperatures from probably 20C night, 26C day.

Thanks both, really appreciate your input.

I really hope being on the southern side will make a difference but I'm not completely enthusiastic. However anything will be better than the chilly miserable weather here

Cloudy and rainy day, this month so far we have had 115l of rain, with 11 rain days out of 12. We are expecting a big drop of the temperatures for the weekend, with snow at 700m more or less. We could end this year with a total amount of 2,000 litres

Very dark day, we are now at 3 degrees and we have heavy rain. It's snowing in places that are 400-500m high, it seems that winter has arrive here.

When you say 2,000l

Do you mean 2000mm.

Yes, 2000mm

The average in my town is about 1500mm, so 2013 will be a very rainy year

Well, another rainy day here, so far today we got 30mm, that would make 234.9mm for this month and 1795.2mm for this year.

We are expecting from 100mm to 200mm this week, so we could reach 1900mm-2000m by the end of this month, quite a mark!

We could see some snow at low leves tomorrow evening and on Thursday-Friday. Places above 500m high will get tons of snow.

This is the diagramme for us from the GFS

Hi all,

Im off to Tenerife on the 17th December (a long way off i know) but im trying to get an idea of the temps at this time of year. The sites on the net are confusing at best as some are suggesting temps this week/Next week of 23/25 and the likes of the BBC are saying around 19....Obviously a big difference and im not sure if they measure this in the shade or take the whole island as an average. The north is usually colder than the south (and im going to the south).....any one have any idea on what we would normally be looking at and what to pack lol? t

thanks

L

Friends of mine in Madrid reporting a light dusting of snow down there this morning. Not bad for an anticyclonic setup.
