As per usual at this time of year some peoples thoughts are turning towards spring and the potential warmth it brings. For a bit of fun i want people to predict the dates that the following temperatures will be reached which i will compile into a list to keep handy.

I'll make my own predictions soon, but i think that 20C will be breached in March, 25C in May and 30C in June.

Ahaa good bit of fun.

I reckon 20c will be reached in the 1st week of April

25c I reckon will be reached around Mid May

30c I think around the 3rd week of June with a Thundery Breakdown :D

I would say on a national scale:

20C: ~10th April

25C: ~15th May

30C: ~21st June

On a local scale, i.e. here:

20C: ~10th April

25C: ~21st May

30C: ~01st July

Last year it was 24th April for here (its grim-up north!), lets hope its earlier this year.

20.c- 1st April (First mild day after coldest March on record :whistling:)

25.c- 19th May

30.c- 3rd June (If the models verify we won't even see 25.c, never-mind 30!)

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if 30.c is the peak of the whole summer with the rest been a washout!.

20C - 3rd April

25C - 14th July

30C - 21st July

All in line with a late summer perhaps?

25C only breached in mid-July? Wouldn't that be some kind of record? (I don't have any idea, just seems like it would be remarkable/depressing)

I'm not expecting much of a good summer at the moment this year, but i think May and June will be warm at times. My guesses are:

National

20C - April (4th Week)

25c - May (2nd Week)

30c - May (Last Week)

The last time we reached the dizzy magic heights of 30c in Torbaydos, was Jul 2006 but i was on holiday in Greece at the time so missed the whole heatwave in the second half of July. Aug 04 was the last time i witnessed 30c in the UK and in Torbay.

Local

20c - May (1st Week)

25c - May (2nd Week)

30c - Never! laugh.gif

Previous Spring/Summers in Paignton for comparison although i don't have excat dates with me atm but i know the months.

2010 -

20c - May

25c - May

Max - 26c June/July

2009

20c - April

25c - May

Max: 26c June

2008

20c - May

25c - Never!

Max: 24.8c - May!!

2007

20c - April

25c - August

Max: 25.7c - August (think it was the bank hols)

2006

20c - May

25c - June

30c - July

Max -31c - July

2005

20c - May

25c - June

Max: 29c July

2004

20c - April

25c - June

30c - Aug

Max - 30c August

2003

20c - April

assume this means SE England, 20C on 15th April, 25C on 12th May, 30C may not be reached but if it is will be during Wimbledon, so I say 30th June, generally after wimbledon best of summer gone, certainly last 2 years, but still warm of course

It's pretty much guaranteed that 30C will be reached, even during 2007 it was reached and it has been about 20 years since it wasn't reached somewhere i believe. London averages about 4 30C+ a year so it would be rare for it to not get breached.

My guess is:

20C - 3rd April

25C - 29th April

30C - 6th June

I suspect 30C will be hard to reach again this year, we only just about got there last year and UK wise so it will be touch and go I think so maybe missing out again like 2007.

20C last week of March

25C 3rd week April

30C if breached 2nd week of june

Last year we managed 30c a few times across the southeast, I think 3 or 4 times? Gravesend was warmest on the 10th July at 31.8c I think?

Met Office doesn't agree! http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/2007/august.html

1st to 5th: It was a dry, bright start to the month, but rain pushed southwards across England on the 2nd with some heavy downpours in the west. A ridge brought fine, warm weather for most on the 3rd and in the south and east on the 4th, with temperatures up to 27 °C in London. However, the 4th was wet across the north-west. It was hot, dry and sunny on the 5th with the temperature reaching 30.1 °C at Terrington St Clement (Norfolk).

It is extremely unlikely that 30C won't be reached, even in one of the worst summers in recent times (2007) it was still managed, and it does not take much to reach 30C, it can be achieved with relatively low uppers

Blimey - I'm still waiting for the first 10º to be reached here. Thought it might happen today, but it appears not.

For this part of Cumbria, and taking my weather records into account:-

20º - May 9th

25º - July 4th

30º - August 5th 2024.
