It's all very complex particularly the connections with el-Queda and other Jihadist movements so this brief comment  in no way paints the full picture so if anyone suggests that they were created and funded by the Americans I would certainly ask for some convincing evidence because I don't think there is a grain of truth in it.

American al Qaeda member acknowledges Jewish ancestry fact.

There is no other description for what is happening other than war crime and genocide.   Israel is technically the occupying force on Gaza and as such is duty bound to protect civilians.   Complet

The scenes in Gaza look like the aftermath of a nuclear bomb, utter devastation. The Israelis telling people to go back to their homes in northern Gaza as its "safe", what are they supposed to go back

Reported on the BBC too... An air strike on an army camp has killed three soldiers, the Syrian government says, blaming the US-led coalition for the attack. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-

That we did and it was an appalling misjudgement not to finish the job properly, Another misjudgement and an exercise in futility was the US attempt to train rebel troops. A gesture by Obama as an excuse to really do nothing. As a matter of interest there are about 7,000 different groups making up the rebel forces including Nusra who split from IS. No doubt many more will be leaving and joining IS after the pounding they been receiving at the hands of the Russians.

Iraqi Forces Seize US-Supplied Anti-Armor Missiles from ISIL in Fallujah.

The Iraqi forces found a huge volume of advanced TOW-II missiles from the Takfiri terrorists in al-Karama city of Fallujah.

The missiles were brand new and the ISIL had transferred them to Fallujah to use them against the Iraqi army's armored units.

Iraqi officials have on different occasions blasted the US and its allies for supplying the ISIL in Syria with arms and ammunition under the pretext of fighting the Takfiri terrorist group.

On Saturday, the Iraqi forces discovered US-made military hardware and ammunition from terrorists in the town of Beiji.

"The military hardware and weapons had been airdropped by the US-led warplanes and choppers for the ISIL in the nearby areas of Beiji," military sources told FNA.

Thousands of Iranian troops are being deployed to the front lines of northern Syria to take part in a Russian-backed offensive on Aleppo.

The deployment reflects Iran’s deepening involvement in the ground war in Syria since Russia began its aerial bombardment of anti-regime rebels more than two weeks ago.

Thousands of Iranian troops have been flown into an airbase in Latakia for deployment to the front lines in Idlib, where heavy fighting with rebels is under way. Others are being moved towards Aleppo, where they will join a ground offensive involving regime forces and Hezbollah fighters in the coming days, according to Iranian sources.

    And in conjunction

Gulf countries fearful of attack from Iran are in talks to acquire a bigger version of Israel’s powerful Iron Dome anti-missile system, the foreign minister of Bahrain has said.

The multibillion-pound deal would involve negotiations between the Gulf Co-operation Council countries — Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait — and Israeli weapons companies, with the US playing the middleman, according to Khalid bin Muhammad al-Khalifa.

The unlikely partnership between the ancient foes has been spurred by a UN-backed agreement to lift sanctions on Iran in exchange for curbs on the countries controversial nuclear programme. Israel and the Gulf now share a common enemy in Iran, which was certain to increase its weapons capabilities, Mr Khalifa told Sky News.

    The deck is being shuffled.

Well, it has been frequently said that the other Middle Eastern states should be more involved, not left to 'The West'. Gonna be interesting to see how this pans out.

The ever increasing Iranian involvement is a worry. As the build up of Iranian troops continues apace in Syria, General Soleimani was visiting the disputed Golan heights area on the border with Israel. Israeli and Iranian troops eyeball to eyeball wouldn't be ideal!!  Given the disarray shown by the US/West how long  before Iran and their Hezbollah mates decide to test Israel's nerves?

    http://www.timesofisrael.com/irans-soleimani-visits-syrian-golan-as-tehran-bolsters-war-effort/

Is Iran  aso sending a message to Israel with its  test firing of an Emad ballistic missile at the weekend?..... violating UN security council resolution (1929) in the process.

It's official! The New York Times finally admits that the "CIA rebels" in Syria who received tons of TOW anti-tank missiles are working under the field command of al-Qaeda/Jabhat al Nusra:

Rebel commanders scoffed when asked about reports of the delivery of 500 TOWs from Saudi Arabia, saying it was an insignificant number compared with what is available. Saudi Arabia in 2013 ordered more than 13,000 of them. Given that American weapons contracts require disclosure of the “end user,†insurgents said they were being delivered with Washington’s approval.

Did U.S. weapons supplied to Syrian rebels draw Russia into the conflict?

The rebels were moderate in Libya and look at the mess there.

    The article is here http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2015/10/10/us/politics/ap-us-cia-syrian-rebels.html?_r=0

Basically backing a disorganized fragmented rebel force has resulted in large amount weapons being handed over to extremist groups which a two year old could have told them.

Western policy is a clueless mess and looks like continuing this way.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to why Afghanistan keeps cropping up in this thread when there is one dedicated to same.

A lack of basic geography knowledge I guess.

As some Palestinians have torched Joseph's Tomb, in Nablus, maybe it's time for the Israelis to raze the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, in retaliation? (don't worry, I'm being somewhat ironic...)

Don't even go there! Iran has launched a nuclear capable missile, and the Americans are annoyed because it coincides with the US-Iranian nuclear deal the Iranian parliament approved last Tuesday, but they say it won't compromise the deal. I don't get all of this...combined with the rest of the Middle East we are heading for a very bad ending and nobody is shouting "STOP"! I'm starting to believe in the possibility of WW3 again...
