Looks like 6.4c is the final figure.

I did wonder if my 6.1°C call was a tad on the mild side. I certainly didn't expect to come up short by 0.3°C!! Still, it's nice to see the daffodils in full bloom on St Davids day!

Sorry about the above .........

The monthly figure does indeed show 6.4C, but on the daily figure report the figure is 6.58c when shown at the top of the daily report. Why is there a difference?

The 6.58C was the provisional figure. There's always a slight downwards alteration before the official final figure is released.

As the figure has been confirmed, I can now publish the figures. No one got it spot on but well done to Jack Wales who was closest, with snow? norfolk n chance and Optimus Prime, 2nd and 3rd 0.5c out.

The Monthly comp was won by Optimus Prime with Kentish Man and Jack Wales 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Overall Snowyowl9 leads from Optimus Prime and mike Meehan.

Thankyou AdernCoch....

Yes I have realised after sending my note that was the case.

Does this not mean that one has to be careful when doing historical comparisons and also future projections using the data on the MetOffice official (FRONT PAGE chart) could be misleading/confusing as there are 2 different values being shown? . I am a fairly novice guy at this, but lets say someone in a university overseas doing research in this area and using the MetOffice as their official source of data can easily use the wrong data?

MIA.

What a different story in Scotland. Coldest December on record followed by the third coldest January since 2001 (coldest December-January combination on record) and only the warmest February since 2008. Overall, winter 2011 was the third coldest since 1979.
