Just occurred to me that my Blog is not in my Signature at the moment, so to save the Newbies who are starting to look at the StormChase Area time trawling through all last years threads I am attaching my Blog which shows all the 2010 Chases from April 29th through to June 8th.

http://plainschaser.blogspot.com/

When you get onto the Blog the last Chase is the top Report, when you get to the bottom click "Older Posts" and you should see the rest of the Trip, I suppose when you have all the Older posts opened you could start from the bottom and work your way up

Also if you want to see the 2009, 2008, 2007 Seasons they are all on there as well. I only have 2006, 2005 & 2004 to Upload.

Hopefully those Accounts will show partly what it is like on a StormChase Day, if you want to match the days with the Original Threads on here (Pages 1-4) the Discussion Pages are pretty good to look through as they show our Forecasts and Discussion on the Morning of the Chases as well.

42 last year :o That was the High risk in Arkansas?

It was the day after the back to back High Risks, although many of the tornados were a continuation into the early hours of the overnight outbreak which started the previous day in Arkansas. There were only 5 or 6 confirmed in Arkansas if I remember correct of which one was the DeWitt tornado you guys saw. None caused significant damage in the High Risk area but there were 4 fatalities the following evening in Missisppi from a number of strong tornadoes after dark.

Now onto the 8th May and we start to see a definate shift Northwards now and leave Texas Behind, although Texas can light up much later than this in the Season it would appear the 8th May has not seen much action, Kansas and Missouri right in the Middle of both Tornado and Dixie Alley are the Bullseye areas. There was quite a large Outbreak once again in 2003 with an F4 Injuring 134 People in Oklahoma in Cleveland County.

Finally onto the last Chase Day of Tour 1 and some quirky and strange facts about this day, the Shift Northwards is still apparant but the amazing fact is Kansas has not had a single Tornado in the last 12 years but ALL States around it have  There was one notable Outbreak again in 2003 with 31 Tornadoes but overall not a record setting day. Strange that California has had more Tornadoes on this day than both Kansas and Colorado as well. Just 1 Killer Tornado occured on the 9th May 2006 in Westminster (Texas) of which I chased.

There have been 95 Tornadoes on the 9th May in the period 1999-2010 which works out at an average rounded up to 8 per day - The largest rated F3 in Oklahoma in 2003 and Texas in 2006

So rounded up, is there a chance I'll see more than one touchdown this year? :cray:

Just think if changeover day had happened a day later and Campo (31st) had been a day earlier then you would have seen 6 Tornadoes - I cant make the weather happen on a certain day as you know. Just remember I know some people that have been going for 5 years and not seen a Photogenic Tornado, it even took Nathan (Gorky) 3 years to see a Tornado worthy of a Picture.

4th trip for the first photogenic one for me actually. Though I blame the weather patterns and my timing for most of that. 2008 was a great year in general but I arrived just after one outbreak and left before the next big one. Don't even start about 2009! Luckily I more than made up for that last year ;)

I imagine May 10th will be another biggie. Large events in 2003/2008/2010 come to mind.

Hi Nathan

Yes May 10th is another Biggie! Includes 3 x EF4's including the 21 Fatalities at Pitcher (Ok) in 2008 along with the Outbreak in 2010 and another biggie in 2003 which had 3 or 4 F3 Tornadoes in Illinois.

Another Big Day!
