A Winter's Tale

Christmas Snow

Recommended Posts

Well it was only a few days ago and it looked increasingly unlikely for a white christmas and here we are on Christmas Eve with a further 10 cm of snow expected for Western Scotland on the Big Day before spreading south eastwards (maybe reaching the north of England). You can post if it has been snowing in your location or the troubles lying snow has caused.

It looks like many areas will see lying snow on Xmas morning but that would not count as a white christmas (personally I believe lying snow and/or falling snow is a white christmas).

Merry Christmas.

Plenty of lying snow here so an unofficial white christmas in regards to no snow falling.

6 inches on shed roofs, grass and bins, 2-4 inches on pavements and roads very icy and slushy.

Just had a look outside and I found a fresh covering of snow on my car. With lying snow and falling snow it's another white christmas.

I think later in the day, the met office will publish something. Anyway, it has definatley snowed in Glasgow and Edinburgh and I would not be surprised to see it reach nothern England.

It looks like snow has been reported in Castlederg and Trawsgeod.

Nothing falling but -12 this morning and 4-5" lying. To me a white Christmas much more than one flake of sleet.

Still a good covering here and had about an hour or so of light snow with strong winds, so a white Christmas in all respects and the second in a row! :)

Morning All

Well I cheated slightly as I am in Rotterdam for Christmas and New Year, we have lying snow of 3 - 4cms and last night while preparing and eating Christmas dinner we had 3 moderate snow showers giveing a further dusting. I think it is my first ever real white Christmas, I m not sure what was best, seeing the snow fall or eating a lovely Christmas dinner. :-)

Cheers

FC

William Hill stated NO white Christmas (for betting purposes) in Newcastle. Unlucky as so may areas near Albemarle saw a few flakes and radar had pink precip over exact spot at 7.45am. Should have used Paddy Power, 2nd year in a row they paid every white christmas bet nationally before the big day.
