A hard frost overnight after cloud cleared and the wind died down in the early hours, with a low of -7.8C. About 6 inches of level snow still lying and some good icicles around.

Currently: Sunny with some patchy stratocumulus to the northern half of the sky.

Our fifth consecutive cloudy and uneventful day with, no doubt, another slight thaw later. Currently -0.1 deg C after an overnight low of -1.4. Still some snow left on the ground, but overall coverage is now less than 50%.

Yesterday: dull, dry and feeling particularly cold in the wind. Maximum 1.6, minimum -1.7. Wind moderate N.

Cloudy spells and a constant moderate northerly breeze overnight have kept the screen temperature falling to extreme levels, never the less a moderate to severe penetrating frost, low –4.7c, with –12.0c on the snow.

Severe frost overnight, though cloudy conditions spread in during the early hours moderating the temperature. Low –7.4c with –14.8c on the snow. At observation, overcast, slight snow. Snow cover is 9.5cm, 100%. Mainly cloudy with bright spells followed. Very cold again, especially in the keen NE wind. Top temperature, 0.4c.

A dry night last night with lengthy clear periods but the f4 N/NE wind inhibited the fall in temperature.

Patchy Cu and Stcu to start the morning but it's been sunny since 1000 with 1-2 oktas Ci and Alcu.

At 0900 the temp' was -1.9c after a min' of -2.9c.

Currently the temp' on the house roof is -0.1c so the end of the current spell of 'ice days' looks very likely.

The mean wind speed is 18 mph N

Vis', 35 km

Mean depth of lying snow, 6.0cm.
