highest temperature since the cold spell started 24/11 with a max here of 5.4C so a decent thaw but the rock hard ice will take some shifting unfortunately and its only got 48+ hours to do it according to the models.

Phew, what a scorcher - it looks positively balmy in the Western Isles! Down here it's still cold, but not as cold as last week - although we started today with a sharp frost. All the (very little) snow we had last week disappeared on Saturday morning, so the roads have generally been dry and ice free.

Dry with bright intervals in the morning and some sunshine in the afternoon. Current conditions: scattered cloud, 2.0 deg C, wind light NW. Today's maximum 3.2, last night's minimum -3.8.

A cold and clear night with a min of -1.8C before it clouded over just after sunrise. The day has then been mostly cloudy with sunny spells.

Currently 3.2C which is the maximum temperature so far today and indeed, for the whole month.

1.0mm in the Davis gauge so there is now a slight thaw occuring. The snow has compacted further with a mean depth of 10cm in untouched areas. Today was also the 15th consecutive day of snowcover. Absolutely remarkable this close to the coast and at sea level

There was a dusting of snow last night in Norwich from showers that unexpectedly turned to snow, about 1cm this morning although some of it had iced over. Today has been sunny all day with a maximum of 3C at Norwich Airport and overnight minimum of -1C and most of what little snow we had is still lying now, though I expect it to disappear tomorrow. Some altocumulus & cirrocumulus advanced from the west a couple of times but fizzled before it got overhead. Holding up at 2C at present.
