It's quite a well-remembered event on these forums although I didn't know that parts of SW England got heavily hit. I'm aware that the Tyne and Wear area and East Anglia both had a large dumping of snow, and that Lancaster (North-West Lancs) was one of the few places to largely miss out, just seeing a dusting, while unusually Barrow on the peninsula to the north of Morecambe Bay had somewhat more.

January 1987 had hit Surrey with blizzards and created huge drifts, ive books on surreys weather, sussex, east anglia and kent, with info going back to late 1800s and some early photos in their to, they are mainly photographic books with info on the events, surrey has had real blizzards- bitter gales and powder snow, but not for many years, we have had deep snow but without the gale.
