Thundery wintry showers

Snooker World Open

Recommended Posts

There's a thread on Ronnie O'Sullivan's controversial 140 147 break already so some people must be following this, has anyone got any strong views on the "best of 5" format?

Personally I'm finding it quite enjoyable because I usually find the most exciting part of snooker matches to be those close, tense climaxes, and this quick-fire format results in that happening from the start. Some of the random draws have also been mouth-watering- we had Ronnie O'Sullivan vs Jimmy White today for instance (Jimmy seems to be regaining some form at the moment- he's played better than I can remember him playing since at least 2004). Tomorrow he'll be playing Stephen Hendry, which should be a classic if Hendry finds his "A" game and O'Sullivan only plays to his "B" game, though otherwise there's a risk that Ronnie will walk it.

However I wouldn't want all tournaments to become quick-fire like this- I think it's just good to have some variety.

The match between Ebdon and liu is rather poor at the moment, and the second frame has been going around 45 mins. There was a 30 minute spell without a ball being potted." very negative players :shok:
