not much happing here right now

a shower heading in my direction but looking at the radar doesn't look too nasty at the moment but that could change

But as the days are getting shorter by the time things start to get going the sun will go down abd they'll start to die out

I think there is a time element here

This is not june or july where days are a lot longer

the shorter days must play some part even if it's only a small part in the devolopment and life of showers IMO

Does anyone know if there was thundery activity from the Cold Front? Some of the rain was very torrential and gave

35mm in 6 hours here.

Hi Andy,

I only received 9.8mm from the CF and I'm not exactly a long way from your location and I also did not hear Thunder even with the window ajar overnight.

Cheers

Stormboy

does the rain in the channel pose any threat to the SE corner ?

Observed large anvil towards Manchester at 2pm, encroaching towards the North Peak District by the minute. Thunder heard and strong updraught convection coming out of individual cells.

Most if not at all the charts I've seen suggest the heavy rain across the Channel is drifting East with the CF - so therefore, I would say no. The coastal extremes of Kent/Sussex may get grazed but even this would appear rather unlikely.

Some decent shower activity here now,not thundery as yet but there is still a good few hours to go before i give up on today. Also there is not a breath of wind which feels very strange, any showers that pass here will be very slow moving.

Almighty thunderstorm just gone through Stockport, Manchester. Torrential rain and frequent lightning. Caught some lightning on my HD video phone as the cell passed.

Fairly lively thunderstorm rumbling round, rumbles less than 5-10 secs after flash at the moment. :fool: Best thunderstorm I've seen since I left the Alps :D

Just had a thunderstorm here, a fairly small but quite electrically active one. Some very angry clouds gathered to the north and west and I saw two overhead flashes of lightning and several loud rumbles of thunder. Has been raining fror about 15 minutes, with about 5 minutes of torrential rain.
