UK Outlook for Tuesday 8 Mar 2011 to Thursday 17 Mar 2011:

Generally cloudy and unsettled across northern and western parts of the UK, with showers or longer spells of rain, which may turn heavy at times. Often windy here, risk of occasional gales or even severe gales in the exposed far north. Temperatures here often near normal, but some brief, colder interludes accompanied by wintry showers are possible in the Northwest. Southern, eastern and central areas are likely to be more settled, remaining mostly dry, although may become increasingly cloudy through the period, with some light rain possible at times. Temperatures here often a little below normal and rather cold, with frost and fog or freezing fog patches when skies are clear overnight, though some southern and eastern parts may turn milder by day for a time later next week.

UK Outlook for Saturday 12 Mar 2011 to Monday 21 Mar 2011:

Many areas will be unsettled and rather cloudy with spells of rain over the first weekend with some snow in the north. The heaviest rain is more likely to be over Scotland, Northern Ireland and some western parts of England and Wales, extending further southeastwards with time. Clearer, showery and colder conditions extending southeastwards to many parts by next week, the showers wintry in the north. Next week should see a change to drier, brighter and more settled conditions for many parts but with widespread overnight frost. A more unsettled pattern however will probably affect northwestern parts and perhaps also the south at times. As we go through next week temperatures levels will probably lift but this remains very uncertain.

UK Outlook for Sunday 13 Mar 2011 to Tuesday 22 Mar 2011:

Many areas will be unsettled with showers or more persistent spells of rain on Sunday (13th) and some snow in the north. There should be some brighter spells too, and these clearer, albeit showery and colder conditions are expected to extend southeastwards to many parts by Monday (14th). The rest of the week should see a change to drier, sunnier and more settled conditions for many parts but a more unsettled pattern may affect northwestern parts of the UK and perhaps also the south at times. Widespread overnight frost is likely, however, temperature levels by day should lift somewhat, although this aspect is very uncertain. By the end of the period there are indications that dry and bright weather should continue to dominate.

UK Outlook for Monday 14 Mar 2011 to Wednesday 23 Mar 2011:

Northern parts of the UK are expected to be fairly unsettled throughout the period with showers or more persistent periods of rain, falling at times as snow over hills and mountains. There should also be some occasional drier interludes though. Elsewhere, the emphasis is on much drier and more settled conditions with some sunshine, although there is a low risk of a little rain affecting the far south or southeast of England at the start of the period. It will be windier across northern parts of the UK, with gales in exposed locations and normal temperatures. Elsewhere it is likely to be cold by night with frost, but daytime temperatures should be near average. There is low confidence that more unsettled conditions could develop later in the period.

However, it will remain more unsettled further north, with a series of weak fronts pushing in from the west, occasionally giving outbreaks of rain or snow over the hills.

UK Outlook for Thursday 24 Mar 2011 to Saturday 2 Apr 2011:

During the end of next week and next weekend, most places will be dry with variable amounts of cloud and sunny spells, but with fog patches likely in the mornings. However, northwestern parts of Britain will be more unsettled with rain at times. The far northeast may turn colder with occasional wintry showers and these conditions may perhaps spread southwards to other northeastern areas later. Daytime temperatures will be near or above normal, and it will feel pleasantly warm in the sunshine. However, there is a continuing risk of overnight frosts under clear spells. During the following week there are signs that the more unsettled, cooler conditions in the north of the UK may spread a little further south, though the far south will probably remain fine and generally dry.

UK Outlook for Friday 25 Mar 2011 to Sunday 3 Apr 2011:

Much of southern UK will enter the weekend dry with sunny spells. However, northern parts will be more unsettled with rain and some hill snow; the snow most likely in the northeast and possibly reaching lower levels here at first. Rain also moving into southern UK by the first weekend, leaving central and eastern Britain driest. Daytime temperatures will be near or above normal, however there is a continuing risk of overnight frosts where clear spells persist. Into the new working week, the cooler unsettled weather in the north should edge southeastwards; becoming less-marked as it does so, with southeastern Britain remaining mild and mostly dry. Into April, temperatures look to moderate somewhat, with snow increasingly limited to northern hills as more unsettled conditions arrive on a southwesterly wind.

Winds will increase during Wednesday, with rain arriving and spreading to most parts of the UK.
