UK Outlook for Friday 17 Feb 2017 to Sunday 26 Feb 2017:

As we head into the second half of February, it's likely that we'll see a gradual transition from the cold and settled weather in the south, to more unsettled weather spreading in from the south and west. This will bring periods of milder weather with thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain, interspersed with colder, brighter and showery interludes. It will be breezy for many, with the strongest winds likely across the north and west, where there may be gales at times. In any lighter winds between weather systems though, there is still the risk of local frost and fog. Overall, it's likely that temperatures will average out close to normal for mid-February, however in the strong winds it will feel colder at times.

UK Outlook for Monday 27 Feb 2017 to Monday 13 Mar 2017:

Through the end of February and early March, the preferred scenario is for generally unsettled weather to affect the UK. As a result, there will be spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with brighter and showery weather. However, it is possible that there will be some drier and more settled spells at times, particularly towards the south and east where there may be frost and fog at times as well. Temperatures are expected to remain close to normal for the time of year.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 22 Feb 2017 to Friday 3 Mar 2017:

As we head through the end of February and into March, it's likely that we'll see mild and unsettled conditions continuing as we look to the Atlantic as the main influence on the weather. Bands of rain will move east, interspersed with brief colder, brighter and showery interludes with a risk of snow in the north. It will be breezy for many, with the strongest winds likely across the north and west, where there may be gales at times. The driest conditions will often be in the southeast. UK Outlook for Thursday 23 Feb 2017 to Saturday 4 Mar 2017:

A changeable and quite mobile weather pattern is most likely as we head towards March. Wind and rain is expected to move across the UK on Thursday, followed by a brighter, colder, more showery but still windy day on Friday. A frosty start is expected on Saturday but during that weekend another band of wind and rain is expected to move in. However, the south and east of the UK should see the best of any dry and bright weather. Although cold at first, temperatures show signs of edging upwards again as we move through Sunday and into the following week. Weather-wise, a recurring pattern of bands of rain followed by brighter, more showery days is most likely.

UK Outlook for Friday 24 Feb 2017 to Sunday 5 Mar 2017:

Plenty of dry and sunny weather is expected on Friday, with one or two showers, but it will feel cold. Wind and rain is then likely to spread in from the west later and last through Saturday but it will be accompanied by milder air. Changeable and mild weather is likely to continue through the rest of that weekend and into the following week, with wet and windy conditions affecting the north and west of the UK the most. The south and east should see the best of any drier and brighter weather. However, there will generally be brighter, cooler, more showery days in-between weather systems. This changeable pattern is currently expected to continue as we head into March.

UK Outlook for Saturday 25 Feb 2017 to Monday 6 Mar 2017:

Late February and early March look generally mild, changeable and at times unsettled, with Atlantic depressions pushing across the UK. This means spells of rain, some of which could be heavy across high ground in the north and west, and accompanied by windy conditions, perhaps with gales at times, again more likely in the north and west. Showers in between these Atlantic systems could be wintry over northern hills. Some wind and rain is likely for the south and east too, though with more prolonged spells of drier and brighter weather in-between. Throughout this period there remains a lower chance that high pressure centred to the southwest of the UK may become more dominant and this would mean rather more settled conditions establishing themselves, with some overnight frost.

UK Outlook for Monday 27 Feb 2017 to Wednesday 8 Mar 2017:

A fairly unsettled picture is likely at first, as further weather systems affect the UK from the Atlantic. Showery spells could affect many areas, particularly in the north-west where these may be thundery at times and could bring snow to higher ground, and even lower levels further north. Milder, cloudier weather is likely to be more prevalent further south and east at first, but all areas are likely to turn colder by the mid-week with an increasing risk of overnight frost. The changeable Atlantic influence is likely to remain in place as we go into March, with cloudy spells accompanied by rain and strong winds at times, falling as snow further north. There is a smaller likelihood of more settled conditions with overnight fog and frost by early March.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 28 Feb 2017 to Thursday 9 Mar 2017:

A fairly unsettled picture is likely at first, as further weather systems affect the UK from the Atlantic. Sunshine and showers are likely for many areas at first. Further frontal zones then bringing cloudier, wetter weather, particularly in the north west; with some snow over northern hills. Feeling colder than of late, especially further north, with temperatures closer to average in the south. The changeable Atlantic influence could remain in place through early March, with stronger winds and rain more likely in north and western areas; drier and brighter further south and east, but temperatures returning to around normal. There is a smaller probability of more settled conditions developing on the continent, which could bring a greater risk of overnight fog and frost particularly for eastern UK.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 1 Mar 2017 to Friday 10 Mar 2017:

An unsettled picture is likely at the start of March, as further weather systems affect the UK from the Atlantic. Frontal systems will cross the UK, bringing cloudy and wet weather at times, with some snow over northern hills. It will be rather cold at times in the north, with temperatures closer to average in the south. The changeable Atlantic influence is expected to remain in place through early March, with strong winds and rain at times and possibly gales. Temperatures will be around normal, and possibly a little above average in the south. In between frontal systems, there is likely to be some spells of drier and brighter weather with some showers and patchy overnight frosts.

UK Outlook for Thursday 2 Mar 2017 to Saturday 11 Mar 2017:

An unsettled picture is likely as frontal systems move into the UK from the west or southwest, bringing wet and windy weather at times with gales in places. Snow is likely over northern hills, with a low risk of some snow more widely at times across the north. Between frontal systems, there should be some spells of brighter weather with showers which may be wintry at times in the north. Nevertheless, some brief quieter, drier spells are also likely. Temperatures will generally vary around normal for the time of year, often slightly above average in the south but rather cold at times in the north, with night frosts. There remains the possibility of a more widely settled but colder period, perhaps giving wintry showers in the east and north.

Odd that despite the fact it's nearing April,  they have actually upgraded the chances of snow later in the Period!

If the set up changes then there can be wintrier weather later in the month. Last year we had a northerly outbreak in April with snow showers in places so not that unusual. Only March after all.
