UK Outlook for Saturday 9 Aug 2014 to Monday 18 Aug 2014:

Some showers around on Saturday, especially in the east. A spell of cloudy, wet and windy weather is more likely than not to affect the UK for a time on Sunday or Monday. Some heavy rain then with a risk of conditions being particularly windy in some exposed regions for a time. Through the rest of next week onwards into the following week a north-south split to conditions is likely. So, whilst most regions will then see some fine spells of weather, there will be some showers or rain about at times with northern parts then tending to catch the most frequent bouts of unsettled weather. Daytime temperatures then often near or a little above average during fine spells and perhaps warmer at times in eastern and southern parts.

UK Outlook for Monday 11 Aug 2014 to Wednesday 20 Aug 2014:

Any lingering wet and windy weather in the east should clear on Monday to leave a breezy spell with scattered showers. However, further rain is then likely to spread from the west to most parts except the far north. Conditions remain fairly unsettled for the rest of the week, with cloudy, wet spells interspersed with brighter but showery conditions. Breezy at times, especially in the north. Temperatures generally near or slightly below normal, and feeling cool in the stronger winds and heavy rain. Thereafter, a north/south split looks most likely to become established, with outbreaks of rain or showers and breezy conditions towards the north, the best of any drier and brighter weather in the south. Temperatures largely near or just below normal, perhaps warm at times in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Thursday 21 Aug 2014 to Thursday 4 Sep 2014:

Current signals are for westerly type conditions to dominate during this period. As such, most regions can expect to see spells of fine weather, with some warm sunshine at times. However these spells will then be interspersed with more unsettled conditions bringing showery outbreaks and perhaps more prolonged spells of rain. These conditions are most likely across northern and western parts, whilst southern and eastern parts are likely to see the most frequent and prolonged fine and dry spells. Daytime temperatures look set to be around average in the east, perhaps warm at times during settled, sunny periods, but rather below average in the more unsettled west.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 13 Aug 2014 to Friday 22 Aug 2014:

On the whole the unsettled conditions are set to continue throughout the remainder of next week, with frequent, and sometimes heavy, showers for many areas, these perhaps occasionally merging into longer spells of rain. There will be some brighter spells too. Also breezy or windy generally, with a risk of gales in some exposed areas, mainly in the north. Temperatures largely near or slightly below normal, and feeling cool in the stronger winds and heavier rain or showers. Thereafter, a northwest/southeast split looks most likely to become established, with outbreaks of rain or showers and breezy conditions towards the north, the best of any drier and brighter weather in the south. Temperatures largely becoming near normal and perhaps warm at times in the south later.

UK Outlook for Thursday 14 Aug 2014 to Saturday 23 Aug 2014:

Conditions through the rest of next week and into the following week are expected to remain on the unsettled side with showers or longer spells of rain. Showers and rain are then likely to be heavy at times, and perhaps accompanied by some quite breezy conditions, but there should be some bright or sunny interludes as well. Looking ahead to the latter part of this forecast period, further showers or rain remain likely at times, but there are signs that the most frequent bouts of unsettled weather may then be confined to northern regions. Daytime temperatures are likely to be close to or a little below average at first and a little above average later. This means that during fine spells conditions should feel pleasantly warm in the sunshine.

they continue to follow the pattern suggested for several days now by the 500mb anomaly charts of an unsettled theme and nothing like as 'hot' as July or even early August. The anomaly charts out to the 8-15 NOAA still show the upper trough as the main feature, helped by the +ve height anomalies in the Atlantic and some ridging in that flow. Partly due to that and partly due to events even further west over N America.

UK Outlook for Monday 18 Aug 2014 to Wednesday 27 Aug 2014:

Any early rain in the south will soon clear to leave sunshine and showers on Monday and Tuesday, these heaviest and most frequent in the north and northeast. Rather windy with the risk of gales along North Sea coasts. Temperatures on the cool side for the time of year with chilly nights. Unsettled conditions will persist into the middle of next week with many areas seeing further showers. However, towards the weekend, the showers should become lighter and less frequent with southern and southwestern areas probably turning mostly dry. Looking ahead to the latter part of the forecast period, further showers or rain remain likely in the north where temperatures will be cool at times, whilst the best of the brighter and, subsequently, warmer conditions will be in the south.
