UK Outlook for Tuesday 21 Sep 2010 to Thursday 30 Sep 2010:

Early in the period rain will affect western areas at times, with drier and brighter conditions in the east. Some of the rain could be heavy. The wet weather may spread to the rest of the UK on Wednesday, although the far southeast should stay drier. Cooler, more showery weather is likely to move into the west behind the rain. Later next week there may be a drier and brighter period over the northeast of Britain, before more unsettled weather spreads to all areas from the west. There is a risk of gales and heavy rain in western areas. Later in the period the unsettled weather will probably continue, with more windy and rainy weather. Temperatures will tend to be near-normal, but perhaps above normal in the east at first.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 22 Sep 2010 to Friday 1 Oct 2010:

Early in the period, rain affecting the west should edge eastwards, perhaps with heavy showers preceding this in the southwest. Cooler, brighter and more showery weather should then move into the west behind the rain. Into next weekend, drier and brighter conditions are expected over the northeast of Britain, before more unsettled weather spreads in from the west later, with the northwest most likely to see heavier, more persistent rain and possibly gales at times. Conversely, the brightest and warmest conditions should be towards the south and southeast. After the weekend, unsettled conditions should continue with more wind and rain; predominantly in the northwest, though affecting all areas at times. Temperatures will tend to be near-normal, but perhaps above normal in the southeast at first.

UK Outlook for Thursday 23 Sep 2010 to Saturday 2 Oct 2010:

Probably dry in the southeast at first, but outbreaks of rain, locally heavy, in many western parts soon extending east to these areas. Towards the weekend it is expected to remain unsettled, with the rainfall becoming more showery at times. There should also be some drier and brighter spells for most areas during the same period. This unsettled pattern will probably last throughout much of the following week, with the brightest and warmest conditions more likely towards the south and southeast, and with more in the way of prolonged periods of rain and windier conditions towards the north and west. Temperatures will tend to be near-normal, but perhaps above normal at first, especially towards the southeast.

Outbreaks of rain are likely to affect the southern half of the UK on Saturday. Drier and brighter in the north with just a few showers possible in Scotland. A noticeable northerly wind will give a cool start to the outlook period. Sunday should be generally dry but indications show that more wet and windy weather is likely to move into northern and western parts from Monday and to all parts by Wednesday. Temperatures will remain near to normal for the last week in September although the odd patch of overnight ground frost cannot be ruled out. Towards the end of September and into October there is likely to be a return to unsettled conditions with wet windy conditions for many. Temperatures will tend to be near-normal.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 28 Sep 2010 to Thursday 7 Oct 2010:

Conditions rather cloudy at first, although across eastern parts of the UK also settled. More unsettled conditions developing across western regions early in the period will spread slowly and erratically eastwards. This will leave changeable conditions with showers or longer spells of rain across the UK by the latter part of next week. Turning windier too, especially to the west, where the rain will also be heavy at times. Thereafter, conditions remain changeable and, at times, windy with showers or longer spells of rain interspersed by drier and brighter interludes. Temperatures will be near or just below normal with local overnight frost at first, then near or just above normal the early October average with milder, frost-free nights later.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 5 Oct 2010 to Thursday 14 Oct 2010:

It is expected to stay unsettled with periods of rain, heavy and prolonged at times, but there should be some drier and brighter spells at times too. Towards the end of this week, the greatest risk of heavy and prolonged rainfall looks to be across western parts of the UK, with the best of any dry and bright weather expected mainly towards the east. This unsettled theme currently looks likely to last through the rest of the period too. Winds will be quite strong, with coastal gales at times, especially in the northwest. However, despite the wind and rain, temperatures should be near normal with relatively mild nights and little in the way of overnight frosts.

UK Outlook for Friday 8 Oct 2010 to Sunday 17 Oct 2010:

An unsettled and autumnal period for the UK, with spells of rain turning heavy at times, and with intervening drier and brighter conditions. The west of the UK will be more prone to wetter and windier weather, with a chance of gales and possibly severe gales near exposed coasts and upland areas during the period. The east of the UK, whilst probably remaining unsettled, should see the best drier and brighter spells, with a chance of this drier weather gradually making inroads into other parts of the UK. Daytime temperatures start a little above normal, with mild nights following, but temperatures as a whole tend towards more usual values towards the end of the period with an increased risk of frost.
