Monday 1 Apr - Monday 15 Apr

As we head into April, the forecast looks more uncertain, but it seems most likely that we will see changeable conditions across the UK once again, with wet and windy weather interspersed with drier and brighter spells. By the middle of the month, we may see a return of more widely settled weather. Temperatures could potentially start off a little warmer than average.

Saturday 23 Mar - Monday 1 Apr

Confidence is low for this weekend, but it looks sunny for many, once patchy rain in the south clears. There will be some blustery showers in the northwest though, with the risk of gales in the far north. Through the latter stages of March, we will see a good deal of dry weather across central and southeastern parts of the UK, with bright or sunny spells. It will be more changeable across the northwest, with rain and strong winds from time to time. Temperatures are most likely to be around the average for the time of year, although some warmer periods are likely in the southeast when the sun shines. However, occasionally in the northwest it may be rather cold.

Tuesday 2 Apr - Tuesday 16 Apr

For the start of April, changeable conditions are likely, with near normal temperatures across the UK. Thereafter, the forecast looks more uncertain, but it seems most likely that we will see changeable conditions across the UK once again. Wet and windy weather may be interspersed with drier and brighter spells, with the most unsettled conditions still probable in the north. By the middle of the month, we may see a return of more widely settled weather. Temperatures could potentially start off a little warmer than average, but they may fall nearer to the seasonal average for a time in early April.

Confidence in details is low for Sunday and Monday, but southern districts will probably be dry with sunny spells whilst further north blustery showers may be wintry in the far north and northwest where there's also a risk of gales. Rather cold in the north with some overnight frost, with temperatures closer to normal in the south. During the last week of March and into early April, there is likely to be a good deal of dry weather across central and southeastern parts of the UK, with bright or sunny spells. It will be more changeable across the northwest, with rain and strong winds from time to time. Temperatures will be mainly near normal in the north, and with some warmer periods in the southeast. .

Wednesday 3 Apr - Wednesday 17 Apr

There is considerable uncertainty in the forecast during this period, and confidence is currently low. However, during the first week of April it does look most likely that we will see changeable conditions becoming established across the UK once again. Wet and windy weather may be interspersed with drier and brighter spells, with the most unsettled conditions still probable in the north. By the middle of the month, there is a possibility that we may see a return of more widely settled weather. Temperatures probably starting off a little warmer than average, but they may fall nearer to normal for a time early in the month

Monday 25 Mar - Wednesday 3 Apr

On Monday the far southwest will probably have a dry day with sunny spells, but elsewhere it will be cloudier with showers. Windy for many, with a risk of gales in the northeast and east. Through much of the rest of the week high pressure is expected to dominate, bringing some fine and dry weather, especially in the east and southeast. However the far northwest will be breezier and cloudier, with occasional outbreaks of rain. During the final days of March and into the start of April the changeable conditions in the northwest are likely to become more widespread. Temperatures often close to normal in the north, but with some warmer periods elsewhere, particularly during the earlier part of this period.

Thursday 4 Apr - Thursday 18 Apr

During the first week of April it looks most likely that we will see changeable conditions more widely across the UK. Wet and windy weather may be interspersed with drier and brighter spells, with the most unsettled conditions still probable in the north. By the middle of the month confidence is low, however there is a possibility that we may see a return of more widely settled, drier weather. Some wetter interludes are still likely at times, particularly in the northwest, and with showers perhaps coming up from the south at times. Temperatures overall probably a little warmer than average, but they may fall nearer to normal for a time early in the month.

Tuesday 26 Mar - Thursday 4 Apr

High pressure is expected to dominate at first, bringing largely settled weather with bright or sunny spells. However, weak fronts may bring more cloud and some rain to the far north where it will remain breezier. Patchy overnight frosts are likely but there should be a gradually warming trend for daytime temperatures. High pressure should gradually lose its influence towards the end of March. Southern and southeastern areas will remain mostly fine, though with some fog. Spells of rain and stronger winds are likely to spread from the northwest into central areas. Temperatures are generally expected to continue to rise, becoming very warm for some, whilst in the northwest they will remain nearer normal. Further frontal systems are expected to push in from the Atlantic for the start of April.

Friday 5 Apr - Friday 19 Apr

At the start of this period it looks most likely that we will see changeable conditions as spells of wet and windy weather spread from the west. Towards the middle of the month confidence is low; however there is a possibility that we may see a return of more widely settled and drier weather. Some wetter interludes are still possible, particularly in the northwest, and also showers perhaps coming up from the south at times. Temperatures are likely to remain above normal throughout.

Wednesday 27 Mar - Friday 5 Apr

Through the latter part of next week, high pressure will continue to dominate bringing widely settled weather. This will bring plenty of dry conditions with bright or sunny spells and light winds for most. Any rain is likely to be confined to the far north and northwest. Temperatures should be pleasantly warm at times, particularly in the south. As we head through next weekend and into the following week, many areas are likely to turn more unsettled. Cloudier, wetter and breezier conditions across the northwest are likely to spread southeastwards into more central and western areas. Temperatures are likely to also trend closer to average, with some colder interludes possible. However, many southern and southeastern areas could well stay largely dry with warm sunny spells.

Thursday 28 Mar - Saturday 6 Apr

Through the latter part of next week, high pressure will continue to dominate bringing widely settled, if at times rather cloudy weather. That said, in any sunshine it will feel pleasantly warm, especially where winds are light. Any rain is likely to be confined to the far north and northwest. As we head through next weekend and into the following week, many areas are likely to turn more unsettled. Cloudier, wetter and breezier conditions across the northwest are likely to move southeastwards at times, but tend to fragment as they do so, meaning relatively little rain for parts of the south. Brighter, showery interludes will then affect the north at times. Temperatures are likely to trend close to average, with some colder interludes possible, particularly in the north.

Friday 29 Mar - Sunday 7 Apr

On Friday and Saturday settled weather continues to prevail across central and southern parts, bringing dry but often cloudy weather. Any rain is likely to be confined to the north and northwest where it may be windy with a risk of gales. Going through the following week, many areas are likely to turn more generally unsettled. Cloudier, wetter and breezier conditions across the northwest are likely to move southeastwards at times, but tend to fragment as they do so, meaning relatively little rain for parts of the southeast. Brighter, showery interludes will also affect the north, with the showers bringing some hill snow here. Saturday 30 Mar - Monday 8 Apr

After a fine and dry start on Saturday, especially across the south, cloud and outbreaks of rain across central parts will move erratically southeastwards, becoming light and patchy as it does so. Further north, there'll be a mixture of sunny spells and blustery showers, these possibly turning wintry over the hills. Risk of gales in the north. There will probably be a good deal of dry and sunny weather on Sunday after a chilly start in most places. Becoming gradually more changeable into next week, with either a band of rain continuing to move southeast early on, before frontal systems arrive from the Atlantic later. Some warm spells in the south at first, otherwise temperatures are likely to be around normal, with some colder interludes possible, particularly in the north.

Sunday will be on the chilly side, with a good deal of dry and sunny weather, but there will also be a few showers in places from time to time. Next week will be off to a chilly but mainly fine start on Monday, though it will gradually become more changeable through the week. There will be rain and strong winds at times, mainly in the northwest of the UK, where gales are likely. Some rain is possible in the south too, but there will be more in the way of dry weather. The unsettled weather is likely to continue into mid April. It is likely to be fairly cold through the period, with some overnight frost possible, but feeling a little milder in the afternoon in any sunny spells.

Monday 1 Apr - Wednesday 10 Apr

Next week will be off to a chilly but mainly fine start on Monday with a frost likely in central and southern areas, and showers in the north which will bring some snow to the hills. Becoming more changeable through the week, with rain and strong winds at times, mainly in the northwest of the UK, where some wintry showers are possible. There will be some rain in the south too from time to time, but there will be more in the way of dry weather around. Into the following week, there is a chance that it may become settled more widely. It is likely to be fairly cold through the period, with some overnight frost likely, but feeling a little warmer in the afternoons in any sunny spells.

Thursday 11 Apr - Thursday 25 Apr

There is a lot of uncertainty in the forecast this far ahead, but there is a chance we could see mainly settled weather across the UK. Some wetter interludes are still possible, as weather fronts may affect western or southwestern parts of the UK. It could well turn warm at times, particularly in the south.

Tuesday 2 Apr - Thursday 11 Apr

A front will bring a drop in temperatures and outbreaks of rain as it pushes southeastwards on Tuesday. Sunshine and showers following, these occasionally heavy and thundery, especially in the north/northeast, with some sleet and snow over hills. After a cold and frosty start, Wednesday will bring further showers though it should turn drier in the northwest before further rain arrives later. Through the rest of the period it is most likely to remain unsettled with showers or bands of rain pushing in from the west. The showers will be heaviest in the north/northwest with hail and thunder, and wintry over the hills. It is likely to remain rather cold with overnight frosts likely. It will also become generally windy, with gales possible, especially towards the northwest.

Friday 12 Apr - Friday 26 Apr

As is typical for spring, there is a lot of uncertainty in the forecast as we go further through April. However, weather systems are expected to push in from the Atlantic at the start of this period. As such the most unsettled and wettest weather is likely to be in the north and northeast, whilst it should stay drier towards the south and southwest. There are then some indications that a blocking pattern could develop through the middle of the month allowing for more settled weather generally. Some wetter interludes are still likely though, these perhaps mainly affecting the west and southwest. Temperatures are likely to rise compared to normal, becoming rather warm for the second half of the month.

Wednesday 3 Apr - Friday 12 Apr

The latter half of next week looks to be fairly unsettled with a mix of drier spells and some rain at times, which may potentially bring some snow to hilltops in the north. It will also be generally quite windy, with some gales possible towards the northwest of the UK. Through the second week of April it is most likely to become a bit more settled across the UK, with drier and brighter conditions more likely, especially in north and northwestern parts of the UK. It is likely to remain rather cold overnight with some frosts likely, but it will get warm in the afternoons in any sunshine, especially towards the end of the period.

Saturday 6 Apr - Monday 15 Apr

Mixed through the weekend with areas of rain and showers affecting the UK, most prevalent in the east and northeast but possible anywhere. Some brighter conditions are likely too with temperatures close to normal, but feeling colder on North Sea coasts. This weather pattern will probably continue through early next week, before it gradually becomes more settled through to mid month. The driest weather is likely to be across the north and northwest, with more unsettled weather affecting the south and southwest at times. Temperatures are likely to start off close to normal, although eastern coasts will be colder at times with an easterly wind. As it turns more settled temperatures may become warmer in places, but with the risk of overnight frost.

A dry end to the weekend for many places, although still the chance of some showers across southwestern and northeastern parts, otherwise bright with spells of sunshine. Feeling cold in the east, with brisk easterly winds at times, whilst the west will be warmer. This pattern is likely to continue through next week with the greatest risk of showers likely to be across southern and some eastern areas, with many places dry. As we head towards mid month it will gradually become more settled with the driest weather towards the west and northwest. Temperatures will be colder at times on the east coast with an easterly wind. As it turns more settled temperatures may become warmer in places, but with the possibility of overnight frost.

Initially, it will be bright in the west, but largely cloudy elsewhere. Some isolated showers are also likely, with light rain and drizzle in the east. There will be the chance of overnight frost, especially in the north, where it will feel cold. The brightest conditions will continue to be in the west, with mainly cloudy conditions in the east. Temperatures will be near the seasonal average to rather warm in the south and west, and it will feel cold in many eastern areas. There will be the greatest risk of showers across southern and some eastern areas, with many places dry. As we head towards mid month it will gradually become more settled though, with the driest weather towards the west and northwest.

For the latter part of April, blocked and settled conditions are most likely to dominate the weather. These will bring a good deal of dry weather, especially across the north and northwest of the UK. There are still likely to be some wetter interludes from time to time, these perhaps mainly affecting the south and southwest. Temperatures are likely to be above the average for the time of year.
