. Are they going to say there could be an easterly all the way through summer months as well. They may as well as they have been saying this since December. Utterly comical.

If one throws darts at a dart board for long enough you will hit the bulls eye.....the met office seem to have a rather lot of darts!!

Monday 25 Feb - Wednesday 6 Mar

Monday and Tuesday will be largely fine and mild with some sunshine, although northwest Scotland could be cloudier with rain and strong winds at times. England and Wales will see some early mist and fog, but this will clear many places through the morning. The largely dry, sunny and mild conditions are likely to continue until the end of February, although rain and strong winds will affect the northwest at times. Temperatures may gradually become closer to normal. Any spells of rain will tend to weaken as they move southeast, just bringing cloudier skies. Overnight frosts are still possible with mist and fog patches too. By early March we are more likely to see Atlantic fronts crossing the whole of the UK bringing stronger winds and rain at times.

Thursday 7 Mar - Thursday 21 Mar

Into early March there are signals for Atlantic fronts to cross the whole of the UK, bringing a mixture of wet and windy weather to many parts, but also intermittent drier spells. Snow remains possible over higher ground in the north, but is unlikely elsewhere. Milder conditions remain more likely, perhaps with occasional colder spells which could bring overnight frosts.

Finally, they have dropped the easterly, we should now expect one in March.

They have indeed.  Snow unlikely away from high ground in the north.

Wednesday 27 Feb - Friday 8 Mar

Wednesday and Thursday may start with some patchy fog and cloud, but for most it will be largely fine and mild later on with some sunny spells. However, in northwest Scotland it will be a different picture, with cloudier skies and some rain coming through at times. Temperatures will stay on the mild side for the time of year, though overnight frosts are still possible. By early March we are likely to see much more unsettled conditions as weather fronts bring stronger winds, gales and rain at times to all parts of the UK. It will also be a little colder than recently, with snow over some of the hills and mountains in the north.

Saturday 9 Mar - Saturday 23 Mar

The weather looks to be fairly unsettled through this period, with a mixture of wet and windy weather for many parts, but also with some drier spells from time to time. The heaviest of the rain is likely to be in the northwest. Snow remains possible over the hills and mountains in the north, but it is less likely anywhere else. Milder conditions remain more likely, perhaps with occasional colder spells which could bring overnight frosts. The best chance of dry and sunny weather will be in the south and east.

This new site is dreadful it's currently showing THURSDAY'S update

To be honest, i think they should just go back to updating the 30 dayer twice a week like a few years back, it would save a lot of surmising over what the GLOSEA5 is or isn't showing, particularly in winter, should the GLOSEA5, for example show conclusive SSW signal around Day 20 or so over the Tuesday and Wednesday runs, surely they can wait for the EC46 Thursday for comparison, and  then alter the forecast to indicate a chance of cold / Easterlies etc right at the end of the forecast period, the general public and planners are not going to call out the Met Office for only forecasting an E'ly at D26 as opposed to D30, only in exceptional circumstances within shorter timeframes should they chop and change the forecast as much.

Thursday 28 Feb - Saturday 9 Mar

There is a great deal of uncertainty through Thursday and Friday. Some signals suggest a breakdown of settled conditions from the Atlantic, which would bring a greater chance of thicker cloud, wind and rain, particularly for the west. The other scenario is for settled conditions to continue until the weekend, extending the spell of drier weather. By the weekend Atlantic weather systems look more likely to bring spells of wet and windy weather across all areas, with the west more prone to the wettest and windiest conditions. Some snow is possible over higher ground in the north. Brighter, drier spells are also likely in between frontal systems; so generally turning much more unsettled than recently across the UK. Feeling colder with temperatures closer to average.

Sunday 10 Mar - Sunday 24 Mar

The extended outlook is most likely to begin with weather systems bringing spells of cloud, rain and strong winds followed by showers and some drier, sunny interludes. The wettest, windiest weather remains most likely in the northwest, with the best of any drier, brighter weather in the south, extending to central areas at times. Temperatures are expected to fluctuate day-to-day but overall could be slightly above-average. By late March confidence is low, but there remains a possibility of a return to slowly-evolving weather patterns across the UK giving some drier, brighter spells.

The new site does not seem any better to me and the basic forecast updates are, as mentioned above, almsot never updated like the old site was.

Very poor.

I might even stir myself and send an e mail about it.

Friday 1 Mar - Sunday 10 Mar

A change to less mild and more changeable conditions is likely by Friday, but the timings and detail are very uncertain. Many areas may see some showery rain, but the northwest of the UK is most likely to see wetter, windier conditions. Becoming less mild than recently, with overnight frosts still possible. There are weaker signals however for drier, more settled weather to continue. By early next week the change to more unsettled weather becomes increasingly likely across the whole country. Spells of wet and windy weather interspersed with drier, brighter periods. Strong winds and gales in exposed areas are possible, particularly in the northwest, with snow at times over high ground here. Temperatures should return nearer to normal, and it will feel quite cold in any windy spells.

The homepage is STILL stuck on Friday's update
