UK Outlook for Tuesday 4 Dec 2018 to Tuesday 18 Dec 2018:

Through this period, there may be a continuation of the cold and mainly settled conditions for much of the UK, with sunny spells and showers. However, there is a chance that during early December the weather pattern may change, with fronts moving in from the west across the Atlantic. This would bring longer spells of rain, interspersed with brighter, showery interludes, and it would also become less cold. However, even if the change does happen, it won't be long before we have more settled conditions again, perhaps by the middle of December. This would mean a return to the colder conditions, with overnight frost and fog more likely.

UK Outlook for Saturday 24 Nov 2018 to Monday 3 Dec 2018:

Through the rest of November, skies will often be fairly cloudy, with the likelihood of some showers, which may bring hill snow to the north of the UK. There will be some sunny spells too, although the breeze will make for a marked wind chill at times, especially in the south and west at first where there may be gales in exposed areas. It will be staying on the chilly side, with patchy frost or ice likely at night. Into early December, there is a lot of uncertainty in the forecast, as there is the chance of either a short-lived milder spell with winds from the west, or perhaps seeing even colder conditions if the winds turn more northerly or northeasterly.

They're simply expressing the level of uncertainty, I think...Better than ramping nonsense, IMO?

But i can say the same,it’s either going to stay cold or turn milder after this week as models are struggling to work out what’s going to happen as they struggle when the setup is not the climatic norm of Zonal weather.

Absolutely! But then you wouldn't be engaging in a 'cop out' either...? Sometimes it's better to 'tell it like it is'...

I suppose if they were to 'tell it like it is' they would just say "We don't know"

UK Outlook for Sunday 25 Nov 2018 to Tuesday 4 Dec 2018:

On Sunday, showers will continue near eastern coasts, though these will probably die out later. Most other areas will stay rather cloudy with relatively light winds. In the last few days of November, skies will often be fairly cloudy, with the likelihood of some showers, which may bring hill snow to the north of the UK. There will be sunny spells too, although the breeze will make for a marked wind chill at times. It will stay on the chilly side, with patchy frost or ice likely at night. UK Outlook for Monday 26 Nov 2018 to Wednesday 5 Dec 2018:

Many places will be dry early next week, but often with large amounts of cloud around. Eastern and perhaps southern parts however may continue to see some showers around initially, with the a few heavier showers possible. The west and southwest of the UK will then likely turn more unsettled as we finish November, with these conditions possibly progressing northeastwards. It will generally remain on the cold side for the time of year, with the risk of some frosty nights and also some transient hill snow. Into early December, there is a lot of uncertainty in the forecast, as there is the chance of either a short-lived milder spell with winds from the west, or perhaps colder but drier weather if the winds turn more northerly or northeasterly.

Well this hasn't changed much. Seems like they don't see a long term traditional ,Atlantic based weather setup for at least the next month.  It does seem a bit like they're saying "yup! staying in no man's land"

Reads like a borefest to me. Bring back December 2015!

No thanks, although it was dry and mild, and the Christmas Day itself was dry.

I think December 2016 or 2017 would be ok, as they had a mix of cold and mild spells.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 27 Nov 2018 to Thursday 6 Dec 2018:

Many places will be dry on Tuesday with variable, often large amounts of cloud. The best of the sunshine is likely in the west, with scattered showers, chiefly affecting the north and east. On Wednesday it will probably turn cloudier and windier across the west and southwest, whilst areas further east and northeast turn drier with some hazy sunshine. Temperatures are likely to stay below normal on both Tuesday and Wednesday. The end of November and start of December may see some less cold, albeit wet and windy weather spread from the west to all areas, possibly giving transient hill snow. This could then be followed by colder, showery conditions. However, an alternative scenario is that largely dry and cold conditions persist during the latter stages of this period.

UK Outlook for Friday 7 Dec 2018 to Friday 21 Dec 2018:

There is a chance during the first few days of this period that areas of low pressure could spread some relatively mild and wet weather in across the British Isles from the west. However, if this happens it is likely to be short lived and the majority of this period is set to continue being dominated by a blocking weather pattern, giving predominantly dry but cold conditions. This mostly settled weather will give an increased chance of overnight frost, and some fog is also likely.

Good news that Exeter see any Atlantic attack being quite brief.

Must admit, i can't see it looking at the models but im always happy when Exeter are on board cold wise..

The number of people on MOD and on other fora who were certain yesterday this would massively change emphasis today...

Keep the faith!

The Met Office have remained very bullish with expectation that any atlantic influence will continue to remain very weak, with blocked conditions holding greater sway. Despite the offer shown by the models - I do believe there is significant likelihood the atlantic will stay weak and stutter against heights generally to our north and east.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 28 Nov 2018 to Friday 7 Dec 2018:

Wednesday is looking unsettled with rain moving north and eastwards through the day, heavy at times especially over high ground in the west and southwest. Further east and southeast it should remain mostly dry. There will be strong winds too with the risk of gales in the west. Thursday should bring a mix of sunshine and blustery showers. The changeable or unsettled weather looks set to continue through to next weekend with the best of any drier and brighter interludes towards the east and southeast. It will stay generally windy with temperatures a touch above normal for some. Further rather unsettled and milder weather is possible through the first week of December, however instead things should start to turn drier and colder.

UK Outlook for Saturday 8 Dec 2018 to Saturday 22 Dec 2018:

Any more unsettled weather at the start of this period is likely to be quite short-lived. The weather is then expected to turn calmer and more settled, but this will bring increased likelihood of fog, especially later in the month. Temperatures will probably be around average at first, with a few milder days but also some overnight frosts under clearer skies. Things may then start to turn generally colder later in the period.
