UK Outlook for Wednesday 14 Nov 2018 to Wednesday 28 Nov 2018:

There is a lot of uncertainty in this forecast, and it may change nearer the time, depending on how the weather develops. However, it seems most likely that changeable conditions will dominate at first with a mixture of rain and showers, but also some drier, brighter spells at times. There are some signs that high pressure may develop towards mid November, which may result in more settled weather; with overnight frost and fog more likely, especially in the north and east. However, more changeable conditions could still occur at times. Temperatures will probably be somewhat below average, with a greater likelihood of frost, as well as some snow for higher ground, especially in the north. Any mild spells are likely to be short-lived.

UK Outlook for Monday 5 Nov 2018 to Wednesday 14 Nov 2018:

Early November looks like being generally unsettled with a mixture of showers or longer spells of rain, as well as some occasional drier and brighter interludes. Heaviest rain may be focused across western areas, with eastern parts often drier. It will be windy at times, especially in the north and west and particularly where we see heavier rain. As we head towards the middle of the month the forecast is uncertain, but there are some signs that it may turn drier across many areas with rain more likely confined to the north and northwest. Overall temperatures will be close to or above average, particularly in the southeast with fewer frosts initially. However, if the weather turns more settled later the likelihood of colder conditions with frost and fog would increase.

UK Outlook for Thursday 15 Nov 2018 to Thursday 29 Nov 2018:

Further changeable weather is likely at first, although this may continue to become confined to the north and northwest allowing many areas to continue to turn drier and more settled. This will bring some fine weather by day, but with an increased chance of frost and fog overnight, which may be slow to clear through the mornings. After a milder start, the second half of November is likely to turn colder with temperatures becoming below average, with any milder interludes generally becoming short-lived.

No signal of any northern blocking there.

Looks like a euro high will take up residence for early part of winter. Quite mild, misty and generally uneventful. Usual fayre to be honest.

That cold end to November has moved from a regular probably below average to likely to be cold today. Are the signals strengthening?

They've largely being saying roughly the same thing for the last week or so but for the foreseeable looks rather changeable but normal to mild temperatures not colder than normal with shorter mild interludes...

UK Outlook for Tuesday 6 Nov 2018 to Thursday 15 Nov 2018:

The details are uncertain, but it is most likely that the UK will experience rather unsettled weather on Tuesday with a mixture of showers or longer spells of rain, but drier for some areas. It will be rather windy with a risk of gales around coasts in the north and west but despite this it is likely to be milder than recently. The unsettled theme is likely to stay in place through next week, where western areas are more likely to see greater rainfall and stronger winds. Eastern parts should remain drier overall. The milder temperatures are likely to keep any overnight frosts at bay. By mid-November there is an increasing likelihood that drier spells may be longer-lived, but this will also increase the risk of overnight frost and fog.

UK Outlook for Friday 16 Nov 2018 to Friday 30 Nov 2018:

The details for the extended outlook are shrouded in uncertainty, but there are weak signals that the UK will have transitioned to more settled conditions; with weather systems deflected away from the UK and most likely confined to parts of the northwest. These longer settled spells are likely to support an increased probability of overnight frost and fog across much of the UK which could be slow to clear given the time of year. Temperatures are more likely to be near to or above average at first, but mild conditions are probably going to become more short-lived with an increasing likelihood of below average temperatures through the end of November.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 7 Nov 2018 to Friday 16 Nov 2018:

Wednesday looks set to bring rather mild but windy conditions across the UK with bands of rain interspersed with brighter, more showery spells. With weather systems moving from the Atlantic it will be western areas that will be the focus for the wettest and windiest conditions, with eastern areas generally drier and brighter. This unsettled theme looks set to continue through the first half of November with temperatures remaining broadly above average and overnight frosts restricted to the far northwest. Towards the middle of November there are signals for drier spells to become longer lived and any weather systems may be slower-moving and confined to the northwest of the UK. Given the time of year, the likelihood of overnight frosts and early morning fog may increase by this point.

Still seem to be suggesting high pressure becoming more established - i'm speculating they are seeing some kind of rex block with continental air imported, perhaps a sceuro block with the jet to the north?

UK Outlook for Thursday 8 Nov 2018 to Saturday 17 Nov 2018:

Thursday should see bands of rain and showery interludes move northeastwards across the country. It is likely to be wettest across western parts with the southeast generally being drier and brighter. The wind will be strong at times with gales for exposed western coasts. This generally unsettled theme, with bands of rain or showers moving into the UK from the Atlantic and interspersed with some drier and brighter spells, looks set to continue through the first half of November. Temperatures will be broadly above average with overnight frosts restricted to the far northwest. Towards the middle of November there are signals for drier spells to become longer lived. Given the time of year, the likelihood of overnight frosts and early morning fog may increase by this point.

UK Outlook for Friday 9 Nov 2018 to Sunday 18 Nov 2018:

On Friday and Saturday bands of rain will move from west to east across Britain, interspersed by brighter more showery conditions. The west and southwest will have the wettest weather, whilst eastern parts see the best brightness. It will generally be windy at times, with a risk of gales, especially around coasts in the west. Little change is expected during Sunday and for much of the following week, with the unsettled theme continuing. As a result most areas will have further spells of wet and windy weather, especially in the west. There is however, a low probability of central and south-eastern parts becoming drier, with an increased chance of fog patches. From mid month onwards there are signals of a trend to generally drier and also colder weather becoming established.

UK Outlook for Monday 19 Nov 2018 to Monday 3 Dec 2018:

Following the mild but rather unsettled weather pattern during the first half of November, there is an increasing likelihood of drier conditions becoming established across the British Isles for the last two weeks, and into the start of December. Outbreaks of rain look set to become more confined to parts of the north and northwest, and even here tending to ease. With longer spells of settled weather developing frost and fog are more likely to form overnight. These could be slow to clear during the daytime, given the time of year. A dip in the temperature will also be accompanied by a greater chance of some snow, especially over high ground in the north.

A tad more positive methinks? The first mention of the S-word with the S not being exclusively confined to northern hills.:drinks:

Haven't the MetO been talking about colder than normal temps with short lived mild interludes for the last couple of weeks into November?...and as we approach that period it looks largely the opposite...so I'll take what there saying for the back end of November with a large pinch of salt.

The overnight issue had this sentence

but mild conditions are probably going to become more short-lived with an increasing likelihood of below average temperatures through the end of November and into the start of December with precipitation probably turning wintry at times.

Very odd from SS that, there is no mention of snow in the link he quotes, this is the sentence in question

but mild conditions are probably going to become more short-lived with an increasing likelihood of below average temperatures through the end of November and into the start of December with precipitation probably turning wintry at times.

UK Outlook for Saturday 10 Nov 2018 to Monday 19 Nov 2018:

Persistent rain and cloud are expected to clear away to the east early on Saturday, leaving sunny spells. However, bands of heavy blustery showers will follow along behind, perhaps including hail and thunder. It will often be windy, with gales around coasts and hills in the west. Although Sunday will probably be less windy, further showers and longer spells of rain are likely. Temperatures will be rather mild in the southeast, but near- normal in the northwest. As a result, night frosts are likely to be confined to northwestern areas of the UK. Next week, most areas will have more wet, windy and fairly mild weather, with the heaviest rain falling in the west. There will be brighter spells though, particularly in the east.
