UK Outlook for Friday 28 Apr 2017 to Sunday 7 May 2017:

Friday is looking to have a north-west to south-east split across the country. Wet weather is fairly likely across northern and western parts with the best of the dry and bright weather further south-east, though even here the odd shower can't be ruled out at times. Temperatures will continue to recover to near average across the country. Into next weekend, more unsettled conditions are likely, especially in the north and west, with the best of any drier and brighter spells once again in the south-east. As we move into the first week of May, western and northern areas may continue to be rather unsettled whereas southern and eastern parts should be drier, brighter and feeling warmer.

UK Outlook for Monday 8 May 2017 to Monday 22 May 2017:

As we move through May high pressure appears more likely to be dominant through the majority of the period, meaning that below average rainfall is most probable during this time. However, low pressure may bring the possibility of less settled conditions at times, especially across western and northern areas. Temperatures are likely to be average or slightly above average. This will mean that we should lose the risk of frosts, and it will feel warm at times.

UK Outlook for Saturday 29 Apr 2017 to Monday 8 May 2017:

Saturday is likely to be mainly dry and bright with temperatures less cold than recently, though it will still be rather cool for the time of year. However, rain is likely overnight in the far north and west and this may well spread across the rest of the UK on Sunday, with the best chance of drier weather in the east. There may be some further rain around on Bank Holiday Monday, but also some drier and brighter spells. As we move into the first week of May, we're expecting more settled weather to become established, with temperatures rising significantly giving us a warm week, perhaps very warm in some parts. The dry and settled weather is likely to last to the end of this period.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 9 May 2017 to Tuesday 23 May 2017:

High pressure appears more likely to be dominant in the second week of May meaning that below average rainfall is most probable during this time. However, there is a chance of less settled conditions at times, especially across southern and southwestern areas. Temperatures are likely to be above average for the time of year with a chance of some very warm weather at times, with limited risk of frost. The forecast for the third week is less certain, though on balance, we might expect these settled and warmer than average conditions to continue.

UK Outlook for Sunday 30 Apr 2017 to Tuesday 9 May 2017:

The tail end of the Bank Holiday weekend looks more unsettled, with rain, already across some west and south-western parts of the UK, extending across the rest of the country. Rain could be heavy across south-western areas, and it will be increasingly windy for many. However, some north-eastern areas could stay dry throughout the long weekend, and temperatures will generally be near or slightly below normal. Tuesday will remain on the wet and windy side, but as next week progresses, drier, more settled and increasingly sunny weather should become established. South-east England is expected to see this change first. Temperatures are likely to respond too with some places becoming very warm, but the main uncertainty is just how quickly this change occurs.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 10 May 2017 to Wednesday 24 May 2017:

High pressure appears to be in charge during the middle part of May, with temperatures likely to be above average, possible very warm at times. It also looks drier than average, especially across the north-west of the UK, with central and southern Britain perhaps seeing some wetter weather occasionally. Towards the end of May, indications on a particular weather type are less certain, with temperatures likely to be closer to normal; some pleasantly warm days but some chilly nights. Rainfall also looks to become nearer average too.

UK Outlook for Monday 1 May 2017 to Wednesday 10 May 2017:

Bank Holiday Monday currently looks likely to be rather unsettled in the south, with some showery outbreaks of rain moving across the UK. However there will be brighter spells in-between, and in the brightness it should feel fairly pleasant, most likely in the north. There may well also be some showers on Tuesday, and to a much lesser extent on Wednesday, but on the whole Wednesday is likely to be dry with some sunshine for many. Temperatures early next week are expected to be around average for early May. Then from Thursday onwards we are likely to see high pressure dominate, with largely dry and settled weather prevailing, with increasing amounts of sunshine. The settled weather is also likely to bring temperatures slightly above average, especially during the sunnier interludes.

Heading into the middle of May, and on balance the dry and settled weather is likely to continue to dominate. UK Outlook for Tuesday 2 May 2017 to Thursday 11 May 2017:

Any showers on Tuesday should become lighter for many, but some may linger in the south east. Elsewhere it will be largely dry and bright, with some sunshine. Wednesday is likely to be dry with some sunshine for many, and temperatures next week are expected to be around average for early May, meaning we will lose the risk of overnight frosts. Then from Thursday onwards we are likely to see high pressure dominate. Easterly winds will develop, with largely dry and settled weather prevailing, and increasing amounts of sunshine. The settled weather is also likely to bring temperatures slightly above average, especially during the sunnier interludes, but it will feel cooler along eastern coasts, and there will be the risk of sea fog at times here too.

This period will begin mostly dry and fine with the best of the bright or sunny weather likely to be across the west and north-west. The far south may see some showers or longer spells of rain at times and it will continue to be fairly breezy, especially on exposed eastern coasts. Temperatures will be close to normal and it will feel warm in any sunshine, but along the east coast it will be rather cool. Thereafter, it is likely to turn cooler more widely for a time with the best of the dry and bright weather persisting in the west and a risk overnight frost in the north. However, by the end of the period it could gradually turn more unsettled and milder from the southwest.

UK Outlook for Monday 8 May 2017 to Wednesday 17 May 2017:

Many places will see more dry weather and sunny spells in the first few days of next week. The best of the bright or sunny spells will still be in the west. Meanwhile, it will be cloudier in the southeast, but mainly dry. It will be rather breezy and also cloudier across north-eastern areas with patchy rain at times. Temperatures are likely to be warm in the south and west, but cooler in the north and east. There could even be patches of night frost in the far north but most of us will avoid these. However, we are expecting a more general change to wetter, windier and cooler conditions by the end of next week and into the following week.

As we head into the second half of May it is more likely that drier than average conditions will return. However there remains the possibility of some occasional wetter interludes, especially at the start of the period. Towards the end of the month we may see high pressure becoming established to the east, bringing warmer air up from France, however confidence is low for this outcome.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 9 May 2017 to Thursday 18 May 2017:

Many places will see more dry weather and sunny spells at first, with the southeast staying the driest and brightest. Thicker cloud and patchy rain may affect Northern Ireland and Scotland though, and this is likely to spread southwards through Wednesday. Temperatures are likely to be warm in the south and west, but cooler in the north and east. There could even be patches of night frost in the far north. It is then expected to turn generally more unsettled into next weekend, with outbreaks of rain or showers likely across the UK, which could initially be wintry on Scottish mountains. It will become breezy too. Temperatures are likely to be around the seasonal average, but it will feel cooler in any wind and rain.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 10 May 2017 to Friday 19 May 2017:

Many central, southern and eastern areas are likely to be dry with warm sunshine on Wednesday. However, thicker cloud and showers are likely to affect Scotland and Northern Ireland, and there is a low chance of these extending further south. Thereafter the weather is generally set to turn more unsettled, with rain or showers likely across all parts of the United Kingdom at times. There is a low risk of snow falling on the Scottish mountains, and there is a chance of some thundery rain developing across some southern parts of the United Kingdom. It will become breezier everywhere around the middle of the month, and strong winds are possible, especially in the west and northwest. Temperatures varying around normal, although probably warm at times in southern and eastern areas.

UK Outlook for Saturday 20 May 2017 to Saturday 3 Jun 2017:

Confidence is low regarding the weather details that are most likely to affect the United kingdom during the latter stages of May and on into the first week of June. However, it does appear that for a time the weather will be rather changeable, with some rain, and with the most settled conditions developing in the south. There are also some indications that towards the end of the period, and thus later on in May or early in June, pressure will begin to rise in the vicinity of the United Kingdom bringing more in the way of warm, settled spells.

UK Outlook for Thursday 11 May 2017 to Saturday 20 May 2017:

Thursday will be mostly dry and fine, with warm sunny spells for much of the central swathe of the United Kingdom at first, perhaps cloudier with patchy rain in the far north. There is the risk of thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain spreading northwards into southern parts during Thursday, continuing further northwards into Friday, possibly turning heavy and thundery at times. Generally staying rather unsettled with outbreaks of rain or showers likely to affect all parts during the weekend and into next week. The rain will possibly be heavy at times, with the chance of thunderstorms, mainly in the south. It will be rather breezy at times, with stronger winds in the west and northwest. Temperatures varying around normal, although probably warm at times in the south and east.

UK Outlook for Sunday 21 May 2017 to Sunday 4 Jun 2017:

Confidence remains low regarding the weather details that are most likely to affect the United Kingdom during this period. However, it looks like the unsettled conditions are likely to prevail at first, before becoming more settled at times by the end of May, especially for southern areas. By late May into early June it appears more likely that high pressure will affect the United Kingdom, bringing settled and warmer weather for most.
