UK Outlook for Thursday 9 Feb 2017 to Saturday 18 Feb 2017:

It will turn cold through Thursday, as cloud and patchy rain, sleet or hill snow moves westwards, allowing colder air to feed in from the near continent on a stiff south-easterly wind. Into the weekend, it is likely to remain cold or very cold, perhaps accentuated by strong winds at times. It will be rather cloudy generally, with the best of the brightness in the northwest. Snow flurries are increasingly likely in the northeast, perhaps with snow showers becoming soemwhat more widespread across the UK for a time. Widespread frost is likely. Until mid February is looks more likely to stay cold and mainly dry. However, it may be more unsettled and less cold at times in the extreme west with spells of rain, with snow on higher ground.

UK Outlook for Sunday 19 Feb 2017 to Sunday 5 Mar 2017:

Through the rest of February, confidence in the forecast becomes fairly low, although the most likely scenario is for things to remain fairly settled. This would mean that our weather is likely to stay on the cold side, with a lot of dry days and some sunny spells. The nights will bring further frost and fog too. Occasional spells of milder, wetter weather are possible, most likely in the northwest, and then signals for the start of March are weak, but it may turn more unsettled generally

UK Outlook for Friday 10 Feb 2017 to Sunday 19 Feb 2017:

A cold east to south-easterly airstream is expected to affect most of the United Kingdom for much of this period. There is likely to be a lot of dry, albeit rather cloudy weather on Friday and Saturday, with the best of any brighter breaks expected to develop towards the west and northwest. However, some snow showers are likely to affect the east and northeast. There is just a small chance of these becoming heavy and spreading to central and some western areas this weekend. It will feel very cold in the wind with a widespread night frost. Next week there is a greater chance of some rain or snow affecting the northwest at times. Elsewhere it should stay largely dry, but cold, with snow showers becoming lighter and less frequent.

Not much snow forecast for southern areas at this stage but early days, could easily and probably will change.

A cold east to south-easterly airstream is expected to affect most parts throughout this period. There is likely to be a lot of dry, albeit rather cloudy weather through the weekend, with the best of any brighter breaks expected to develop towards the west and northwest. However, some snow showers are likely to affect the east and northeast, with a small chance of these becoming heavier and spreading to central and some western areas through the weekend. It will feel very cold in sometimes fresh winds with a widespread night frost. Next week there is a chance of some rain or snow affecting the west and northwest at times. Elsewhere it should stay largely dry with snow showers becoming lighter and less frequent. Remaining cold with winds freshening at times.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 22 Feb 2017 to Wednesday 8 Mar 2017:

Through the rest of February, the preferred scenario is for conditions to remain largely settled overall, meaning that our weather will probably stay on the cold side. There are likely to be a lot of dry days and some sunny spells but the nights will be cold, probably with some frost and fog for some. There is a small risk of a few sleet or snow showers in southern and eastern parts, although confidence is low. Occasional but most likely short-lived spells of milder and wetter weather are possible, and these will most likely be in the west and northwest. The weather at the start of March currently looks rather uncertain, but there is a chance it could turn milder and more unsettled.

UK Outlook for Sunday 12 Feb 2017 to Tuesday 21 Feb 2017:

An east to south-easterly wind will gradually bring less cold air to most parts throughout this period. There is likely to be a lot of dry weather around, although it'll probably be rather cloudy. The best of any bright spells will be towards the west and northwest through the early part of the week, whereas some snow showers are likely in the east, with a small chance of these becoming heavier and spreading to central and some western areas. It will feel very cold in the easterly wind with a widespread night frost. Later in the period there is a chance of seeing some rain or snow affecting the west and northwest at times but elsewhere it should stay largely dry with snow showers becoming lighter and less frequent.

UK Outlook for Monday 13 Feb 2017 to Wednesday 22 Feb 2017:

Gradually turning less cold through the period, but still with a risk of some sleet or snow showers in Scotland and the north-east, which could be heavy at first. There is likely to be a lot of dry weather around, although it will probably be rather cloudy. The best of any bright spells will be towards the west and northwest, although later in the week and through the rest of the period there is a risk of seeing some wet and windy conditions start to edge into western parts. There is a small possibility this could start as sleet or snow, before turning to rain. It will feel very cold in the easterly wind, but turning less cold with overnight frosts becoming less likely by the end of the period.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 14 Feb 2017 to Thursday 23 Feb 2017:

Gradually turning less cold through the period, but still with a risk of some sleet or snow showers in Scotland and the north-east at first. There is likely to be a lot of dry weather around through this period, although it will probably be rather cloudy, with the best of any brightness towards the west and northwest. Atlantic frontal systems will try to make inroads across the UK, although making limited progress and therefore likely to bring cloud and oubreaks of rain to the south-west. It will feel very cold in the easterly wind at first, with the risk of overnight frosts at first, particularly in the north. Towards the end of this period, daytime temperatures are likely to return to near normal.

UK Outlook for Friday 24 Feb 2017 to Friday 10 Mar 2017:

Through the rest of February, the preferred scenario is for conditions to remain largely settled as high pressure dominates our weather. This will lead to generally drier than average conditions with temperatures likely to recover to near normal. Days are likely to be dry with variable amounts of cloud and some sunny spells, meanwhile nights will remain cold with the risk of frost and/or fog. Occasional short-lived spells of milder and wetter weather are possible, in the west, although this looks less likely. As we move into March, it looks like the weather may become more changeable with outbreaks of rain and milder spells at times, although signals for this are currently weak.

UK Outlook for Thursday 9 Feb 2017 to Thursday 23 Feb 2017:

At the start of this period the most likely scenario is for more unsettled weather with wet and windy spells interspersed with brighter, showery interludes. This would bring gales at times, especially in the northwest. Temperatures are likely to be slightly above normal for the time of year. South-eastern parts may well stay drier and brighter. Through the second half of the period there looks to be a fine balance of high pressure over the Continent and more unsettled conditions in the Atlantic. This resulting in outbreaks of rain, milder temperatures and stronger winds in the north and west. Although the south and east possibly having drier, brighter and colder periods, with a risk of fog and frost overnight. There is a chance these conditions could develop more widely later.

Just to bump this back up to the top....

They forecasted unsettled/wet/windy for today. In actual fact high pressure is dominating with little or no ppn. Moral of the story is not to put too much emphasis on these forecasts, they cange as often as the models do.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 15 Feb 2017 to Friday 24 Feb 2017:

Through the start of this period we are likely to see a continuation of the transition to less cold conditions. There is likely to be a lot of dry weather around, although it will probably be rather cloudy, with perhaps the thickest cloud leading to some occasional light rain. At this stage the most likely scenario as we move towards the weekend is that Atlantic frontal systems will try to make inroads across the UK, although making limited progress initially. Therefore, this is likely to bring cloud and outbreaks of rain to the just western areas at first, with drier conditions persisting further east. Despite a chilly feel at the start of this period, with more Atlantic influence later, daytime temperatures are likely to gradually return to near normal.

UK Outlook for Saturday 25 Feb 2017 to Saturday 11 Mar 2017:

At the start of this period the preferred scenario is for a continuation of slightly more settled conditions with any incursions of milder and wetter weather short-lived. This will lead to generally drier than average conditions with temperatures perhaps a little below average. Days are likely to be often dry with variable amounts of cloud and some sunny spells, meanwhile nights will remain cold with the risk of frost and/or fog. As we move into March, it looks like the weather may become more changeable with outbreaks of rain and milder spells at times, although signals for this are currently fairly weak.

UK Outlook for Thursday 16 Feb 2017 to Saturday 25 Feb 2017:

As we move towards the weekend we are likely to see the transition to milder weather continuing as the Atlantic dominates the weather pattern in the North. The North and West are more likely to see outbreaks of rain and cloudier conditions, whereas South and Eastern areas are more likely to remain clear and dry with a greater chance of some sunshine; but with an additional risk of overnight frost and fog. As we move through the weekend this Atlantic influence will be more apparent as frontal systems spread from the West; bringing widespread rain and stronger winds. Local gales are possible in exposed Western fringes, with lighter winds further South and East. Rain will eventually spread to all areas, but with this daytime temperatures will return to average.
