UK Outlook for Friday 26 Feb 2016 to Friday 11 Mar 2016:

A continuation of rather cold and changeable weather conditions looks the most likely trend at this stage, with winds predominantly blowing from the west or northwest. Probably wettest and windiest towards the north, with a greater likelihood of longer settled periods of weather in the south. By mid March, there are signs of more settled weather across other parts of the country too. Temperatures probably averaging out at near or just below the seasonal norm.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 17 Feb 2016 to Friday 26 Feb 2016:

On Wednesday, rain, sleet and hill snow is expected to move out of Scotland and Northern Ireland and into the north and west of England and Wales. Towards the southeast of England, dry and bright with frost and fog patches. Becoming bright and breezy across Scotland and Northern Ireland, with sunshine and wintry showers. On Thursday, the band of rain, and perhaps snow, is expected to move into southeast England as a weakening feature. After a frosty start, a mix of sunshine and wintry showers is expected elsewhere. Thereafter, the weather looks set to remain rather cold and changeable. Some wet and windy weather at times, but also some frosty conditions too between weather systems. Cold enough for snow at times, though mainly on higher ground and in the north.

UK Outlook for Sunday 28 Feb 2016 to Sunday 13 Mar 2016:

A continuation of the rather changeable weather looks the most likely trend at this stage, with winds predominantly blowing from the northwest. This means the wettest and windiest conditions will probably affect northern and western areas, with a greater likelihood of settled periods of weather in the south and east. There is a chance that a period of more widespread cold and settled conditions could develop around the turn of the month, however confidence in this is low. Temperatures probably averaging out near or just below normal. Some frosty nights are likely, but there could well be large day-to-day variations as weather systems come and go.

UK Outlook for Thursday 18 Feb 2016 to Saturday 27 Feb 2016:

On Thursday, a band of rain, and perhaps sleet and snow, will probably affect southeast England at first, but is likely to weaken and clear eastwards through the day. Elsewhere, after a frosty start, there will be plenty of sunshine, and some scattered wintry showers in the west. Thicker cloud, stronger winds and outbreaks of rain are then likely to spread in from the northwest through Friday, with snow possible in parts of the north, clearing to blustery showers later. Thereafter, the weather looks set to remain rather changeable. There will be some milder, wet and windy weather at times, with a risk of gales, perhaps severe in the north. However there will also be some clearer and frosty periods in-between weather systems.

UK Outlook for Friday 19 Feb 2016 to Sunday 28 Feb 2016:

A largely dry, cold start, however cloud, strong winds and outbreaks of rain are likely to spread in from the northwest through Friday, with snow possible in parts of the north, mainly over high ground. This should clear to blustery showers later, although with further more persistent rain returning over the weekend. Thereafter, the weather looks to remain rather changeable with milder, wet and windy weather at times, with a risk of gales, perhaps severe in the north. However there will also be some clearer and frosty periods in-between weather systems. Northwestern areas are likely to see the wettest weather, whilst southeastern areas are more likely to see more in the way of drier spells.

UK Outlook for Saturday 20 Feb 2016 to Monday 29 Feb 2016:

Next weekend should start with blustery showers across northern parts, with some brighter spells. There is a risk of persistent rain at times further south, with some coastal gales possible. As we move through next week, conditions look to remain rather changeable with milder, wet and windy weather at times, with a risk of gales, perhaps severe in the north. There should also be some clearer and frosty interludes. Northwestern areas are likely to see the wettest weather, with a risk of snow, whilst southeastern areas are likely to see more in the way of drier spells. Temperatures are generally expected to be around normal, although mild for a time in the south at first. The temperatures could occasionally fall below average in any prolonged clear spells.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 1 Mar 2016 to Tuesday 15 Mar 2016:

The rather unsettled weather looks likely to continue into the start of March, with mainly northwesterly winds. This means the wettest and windiest conditions will probably affect northern and western areas, with a greater likelihood of settled periods in the south and east. There is a chance that a period of rather colder and more settled conditions could develop, however confidence in this is currently low. Temperatures are likely to be around or just below average, but large daily variations are possible due to passing weather systems bringing slightly milder weather, followed by clearer spells.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 2 Mar 2016 to Wednesday 16 Mar 2016:

The latest indications are that changeable weather conditions are likely to continue through the first half of March. We are expecting northwestern areas to have the wettest and windiest conditions while the southeast should have the best of any drier, brighter spells. There will probably be large day to day variations in the temperature, although it will probably average out to be near or slightly below normal, with some frosty nights likely at times.

UK Outlook for Sunday 21 Feb 2016 to Tuesday 1 Mar 2016:

On Sunday southern and eastern areas will start mild with a band of rain moving southeastwards across England and Wales, this probably not clearing away from southeastern England until early Monday. Colder, brighter, showery conditions will follow from the northwest, the showers wintry in the north. It will initially be very windy, with gales likely at times in the north, but the wind should ease off as we head towards the middle of the week as the weather settles down for a while. However, the latest indications are for further wind and rain to return from the Atlantic some time later in the week, with the rain most prevalent over western areas. Thereafter conditions are likely to be changeable with temperatures probably averaging out close to or slightly below normal.

UK Outlook for Thursday 3 Mar 2016 to Thursday 17 Mar 2016:

The latest indications are that changeable weather conditions are likely to continue through at least the start of March, with spells of wet and windy weather interspersed with colder, showery periods. There will be a risk of transient snow in places, either from showers in the colder outbreaks or due to frontal systems running into cold air, predominantly in the north. As we go further into March, there is a sign that drier conditions may develop in the north, with changeable conditions continuing in the south. There will be large day to day variations in temperature, but on the whole temperatures will average out below normal, with some frosty nights at times. Overnight frost is likely to be more prevalent in the north.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 23 Feb 2016 to Tuesday 8 Mar 2016:

Indications are that the latter half of February will be dominated by changeable weather coming in from the Atlantic. This will bring showers or longer spells of rain to most parts, wettest in northern areas, while southern parts may benefit from some longer dry spells. Snow is likely at times, mainly over northern hills. Temperatures should generally be near normal for the time of year, with the chance of occasional frosty nights where skies become clear. Generally windy with gales or even severe gales at times, mainly in northern and western parts. By late February there is a possibility of more settled weather becoming established, mainly across southern areas, bringing drier and less windy conditions here, however, wet and windy weather will most likely persistent in the north and west.

There is currently significant uncertainty on the likely weather type through this period, but the latest indications are that unsettled conditions are likely to continue, with spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with colder, brighter, showery periods. There will be some sleet or snow in places, either from showers in the colder outbreaks or due to frontal systems running into cold air. There are some signals that more prolonged, drier and cold conditions may affect the north for a time. UK Outlook for Wednesday 24 Feb 2016 to Friday 4 Mar 2016:

Cold conditions are likely to persist in the north during Wednesday, with wintry showers in places. Further south, cloud and rain may spread in from the west, perhaps bringing snow along the northern edge of this area. There will then be a drier, brighter interlude, before unsettled conditions spread eastwards across the UK later next week. This will herald a return to changeable conditions with wind and rain from the Atlantic, interspersed with colder, brighter and showery interludes. Often windy, with gales at times. There will also be some sleet or snow at times. Drier conditions may develop in the north by early March. Temperatures will generally be below normal for the time of year.

Problem is the average temp gets gradually higher so "colder" can still mean far too mild for anything wintry.

UK Outlook for Thursday 25 Feb 2016 to Saturday 5 Mar 2016:

Cold but sunny conditions should persist for many during Thursday, with some wintry showers in the far northeast. Thickening cloud and outbreaks of rain and hill snow will probably arrive from the west later in the day, moving slowly and erratically eastwards overnight and through Friday. The weekend then looks to be cold and unsettled overall. There will be some bright or sunny intervals but also showers or longer spells of rain in many parts, probably with some snow in the north. Winds will also strengthen at times, with a chance of gales in the south. This cold and unsettled picture looks likely to continue into March. Although milder at times in the south, temperatures will generally be below normal for the time of year with widespread overnight frosts.

UK Outlook for Sunday 6 Mar 2016 to Sunday 20 Mar 2016:

On the whole, cold and changeable conditions look to dominate through the period. Spells of wet and windy weather are likely as frontal systems push in from the Atlantic, but there should also be periods of more settled, crisp and bright conditions in-between. There will be some sleet or snow at times, either from showers in the colder outbreaks or due to frontal systems running into cold air. Temperatures will generally be below average, with widespread overnight frosts likely.

UK Outlook for Friday 26 Feb 2016 to Sunday 6 Mar 2016:

Cold but bright or sunny conditions should persist for many on Friday and Saturday, with some wintry showers, particularly in the northeast. Though there is a risk that strong winds and outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow, may develop in the west or southwest for a time. The remainder of the weekend and early next week then looks to remain cold with bright or sunny intervals but also some wintry showers, these most prevalent in the east. A cold and predominantly unsettled picture then looks likely through the first week of March, with a risk of some sleet or snow at times. Although less cold at times in the south, temperatures will generally be below normal with widespread overnight frosts. Frosts locally severe in the north.
