UK Outlook for Sunday 20 Oct 2013 to Tuesday 29 Oct 2013:

Sunday and Monday will remain unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain, locally heavy, and some strong winds. However, there will be some drier and brighter interludes, the best of which will be in the east. Temperatures near average or rather warm, with milder nights than of late, although chillier in the north. Through next week, the unsettled weather continues to affect all areas, with periods of rain and cloud alternating with brighter, showery spells. It will be rather windy at times. Temperatures returning to near normal by the end of the period. Towards the end of the period the trend is for more drier and brighter periods, but accompanying this the chance of clearer, cooler nights with an associated risk of local fog, and perhaps rural ground frost.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 30 Oct 2013 to Wednesday 13 Nov 2013:

The unsettled and slightly warmer than normal conditions expected at the end of October will probably carry over into the first week of November, leading to slightly above average rainfall amounts for some regions. Temperatures during this period may well remain close to or a little above average throughout, especially in the south, leading to a lower risk of frost here than can usually be expected at this time of year. There are some indications that the second week of November may see drier than average conditions across some parts of the country with temperatures probably returning to average.

Now I understand the difficulties and "broad brush" necessaties when producing MR and LR forecasts, but this has me a little uncertain.

The end of the above MR outlook says;

"Towards the end of the period the trend is for more drier and brighter periods, but accompanying this the chance of clearer, cooler nights with an associated risk of local fog, and perhaps rural ground frost."

and at the beginning of the LR outlook it says;

"Temperatures during this period may well remain close to or a little above average throughout, especially in the south, leading to a lower risk of frost here than can usually be expected at this time of year"

Perhaps I'm a little tired and it doesn't sound as confusing as how I am currently seeing it, but surely the overlap of the two forecasts could read a little smoother than that?

UK Outlook for Monday 21 Oct 2013 to Wednesday 30 Oct 2013:

After an unsettled weekend conditions early next week should be a little better; still a few showers about on Monday, but fewer and further between than on Saturday and Sunday. Some sunshine too, and feeling quite pleasant with above average maximum temperatures. However, conditions soon go downhill with cloud and rain spreading eastwards across the UK by mid-week leaving the rest of the week unsettled and windy with showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times. These unsettled conditions are then likely to persist through the weekend after next and onwards into the latter part of October. In spite of the unsettled weather conditions will be mild for the time of year, especially by night when any frost is likely to be confined to the far north.

UK Outlook for Thursday 31 Oct 2013 to Thursday 14 Nov 2013:

The unsettled and slightly milder than average conditions expected towards the end of October will probably carry over into the first week of November, leading to slightly above average rainfall amounts for some regions, especially in the north and west. Temperatures during this period are thought more likely than not to be close to or a little above average throughout, especially in the south, leading to a lower risk of frost here than can usually be expected at this time of year. There are some indications that during the second week of November northern parts become most likely to be affected by unsettled weather whilst slightly more settled conditions further south would bring an increased risk of overnight frost and fog.

The 6-15 was updated over an hour ago, still no 30 day update, could this be some good news, are they toying with the idea of mentioning the possibility of a cold spell right at the end of the forecast period?

That would tie in with RJS's forecast!

Yes, have a feeling he will be right but unfortunately I also think his December forecast may be right.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 22 Oct 2013 to Thursday 31 Oct 2013:

Rain across northern and western areas, pushing east through Tuesday, with brighter and showery conditions following into Wednesday. Rather windy, with risk of gales in the north and west. Remaining very mild, both by day and night, and rather warm in the sunny spells in the south and east. Through the rest of next week, remaining generally unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times. However, some brighter interludes, best across eastern and northeastern parts. These unsettled conditions are then likely to persist through to the latter part of October, but in spite of this conditions will be mild for late October, especially by night with frosts confined to the far north. Later in the month, drier and brighter conditions may become more prevalent in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Thursday 24 Oct 2013 to Saturday 2 Nov 2013:

After a dry start in the north on Thursday, strong winds and heavy rain are likely to spread north across many parts although tending to turn more showery on Friday. Many central and southern areas will continue to have above average temperatures. A brighter, drier, and less windy interlude is then likely for many parts with significantly colder weather possibly affecting northern areas for a time giving night frosts. However, during next weekend and into the following week more unsettled, windy conditions look set to return across all parts with further rain as well as gales in many places. The wettest conditions are likely across northwestern Britain, with the best of the drier and brighter spells in the south and east. By this stage temperatures should be near normal.

UK Outlook for Saturday 26 Oct 2013 to Monday 4 Nov 2013:

Cloud and rain, locally heavy, will clear eastwards on Saturday with sunny spells and showers following to the west and winds will remain strong across the UK. Overnight, further rain and strong winds will push into the west, clearing eastwards on Sunday with showers behind the rainband. It will remain mild for late October. The unsettled weather will continue thereafter with showers or longer outbreaks of rain, locally heavy, with strong winds and a risk of severe gales, mainly in parts of the north and west. The best of any drier and brighter interludes will be mainly across southeastern parts, particularly later in the period giving a fog risk. Temperatures will be nearer normal but it may be rather cold in the north at times with a frost risk.

UK Outlook for Monday 28 Oct 2013 to Wednesday 6 Nov 2013: Wet and windy weather sweeps across much of the country on Monday with the potential for severe gales in the south, although there remains marked uncertainty with regard to the precise track of the strongest swathe of winds. However, it may stay drier and brighter across northern parts. Brighter and showery on Tuesday, but it will remain windy and feeling much colder. After a drier, brighter and less windy interlude around midweek with some night frost, the unsettled milder weather resumes thereafter. Showers or longer outbreaks of rain, locally heavy, will affect many areas, especially the north and west, with strong winds and gales also likely in the west at times. The best drier and brighter interludes will be across southeastern parts, but this may allow occasional fog overnight.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 29 Oct 2013 to Thursday 7 Nov 2013:

Monday's storm will have pushed out into the North Sea by early Tuesday leaving the UK in a brighter and showery northwesterly airstream. However, it will be rather windy, and feeling much colder than of late, with a touch of frost across many parts overnight as the winds ease. After a dry and bright start on Wednesday, rain and strengthening winds will push in from the west and this will herald the change back to unsettled and milder conditions which will prevail thereafter. Showers or longer outbreaks of rain, locally heavy, will affect many areas, especially the north and west, with strong winds and gales also likely in the west at times. The best drier and brighter interludes will be across southeastern parts, but this may allow occasional fog overnight.
