UK Outlook for Thursday 26 Sep 2013 to Thursday 10 Oct 2013:

 

There remain signs of a rather more settled weather type across many parts of the United Kingdom during the last week or so of September, so conditions are more likely than not to be drier than average. This should also allow daytime temperatures to be close to or a little above the late September average and as such conditions will feel quite pleasant in sunshine. Scope then for conditions to also be quite chilly by night with a risk of frost in rural areas and an increased risk of mist and fog both overnight and during morning rush hours. Probably still quite settled at the start of October, but conditions may then start to turn more unsettled during the first week of October, particularly in the north.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 17 Sep 2013 to Thursday 26 Sep 2013:

The unsettled weather will continue through much of the working week with further showers, heaviest and most frequent across the north and west. Through Tuesday, more persistent rain may affect central and southern parts. Winds will often be strong with below average temperatures. Towards the weekend, drier and brighter weather may develop across southern and western areas, but northern and eastern parts may stay rather unsettled. Temperatures are likely to remain below average at first, but should recover across the south and west. The remainder of the period is likely to turn more settled generally, particularly in the south, with drier, sunnier and warmer temperatures by day but an increasing risk of overnight frost and fog. There is, however, still the potential for some rain or showers at times.

The unsettled weather will continue through the rest of the working week with further showers, heaviest and most frequent across the north and east, with the best of the sunshine in the south and west. Windy with the risk of gales in the north and east, and temperatures below average. Through the weekend, remaining unsettled and windy with showers or periods of more prolonged rain and the risk of gales along exposed coasts, mainly in northwest. However, there will be some drier and brighter interludes. Temperatures recovering a little by day, but with some chilly dawns. Thereafter, probably remaining rather changeable with further spells of wet and windy weather at times, but with some drier and brighter interludes too. Temperatures near, or a little below, average.

A rather changeable weather pattern is the most probable scenario through the remainder of September and into October with all areas of the country seeing some spells of rain or showers, with some drier and brighter days in between. Temperatures generally near, or occasionally a little above,the seasonal norm.

The unsettled weather will continue at first with most parts seeing further rain, before this becomes restricted to the northern and western parts on Friday, with drier and brighter weather in the southeast. Into next weekend, it remains unsettled and windy with showers or longer periods of rain, this possibly heavy in places, and also the risk of gales along exposed coasts. However, there will be some drier and brighter interludes as well, and temperatures will also recover a little by day, but staying chilly overnight. Thereafter, the current signal is for it to become rather changeable with further spells of cool, wet and windy weather, but also some warmer and drier and brighter interludes too, these most likely in the southeast.

Looks like the Met Office are leaning towards a north/south split IMO, a la EC Det.

With the mention of gales in exposed places and rain in the north, they definetly aren't going for a full on pressure rise next weekend, but rather a ridge for the south keeping things quieter here.

After any overnight rain clears the far southeast on Friday, most areas will have a mainly fine day with some sunshine. The cloud may thicken through the afternoon in western areas with perhaps some rain later in the day. Probably becoming more unsettled next weekend in the northwest of the UK with showers or longer periods of rain, this possibly heavy in places. It will also become windy with a risk of gales on exposed coasts. Further south and east, although occasional showers are still possible, overall conditions will be much brighter and warmer. Thereafter, current signals suggest it will stay rather changeable with some rain at times, particularly further north. However, there are also indications of some longer brighter and warm periods developing, especially in the south and east.

UK Outlook for Saturday 21 Sep 2013 to Monday 30 Sep 2013:

A bright yet cool start on Saturday to a rather fine day with good sunny spells and light winds, particularly in eastern and southeastern parts. It will gradually cloud over in western parts through the day with some patchy rain and drizzle in the northwest, with freshening winds here too. This patchy rain is likely to continue through Sunday while central and southeastern parts see another largely fine and dry day. Into next week, central and southern parts may well see a lot of settled weather with generally light winds, and it will feel rather warm at times. Northwestern parts will also see some drier brighter periods, however there is a greater risk here for more changeable weather and unsettled spells of rain, and even some strong winds at times.

For the first part of October, most of us can expect to see some decent settled periods. This will most likely be in southern and eastern parts, where good sunny spells are most likely. Further north and west, again some good spells of settled weather are likely here, but there is a greater risk of seeing more changeable weather and some unsettled spells of showers or rain.

 Outlook for Sunday 22 Sep 2013 to Tuesday 1 Oct 2013:

Cloud and outbreaks of rain will affect north and northwestern areas of the UK on Sunday, with rain turning patchier on Monday. Most other areas should be dry with sunny spells but it may be cloudier in some western areas. Into next week, central and southern parts of the UK should see a lot of settled weather with light winds. Often rather warm by day but cooler nights may give some mist and fog. North and northwestern parts will also see some drier and brighter periods but there is a greater risk here of further spells of rain, even some strong winds. Thereafter the weather may begin to turn unsettled more widely across the UK but the north and northwest are most likely to continue seeing wet and windy conditions.

Rather cloudy conditions to start Monday with some outbreaks of rain and drizzle possible in the far north and west where some coastal mist and fog may linger. Elsewhere, turning brighter with some good sunny spells, and warm for late September. It should be a settled week for most with light winds, and largely dry with variable amounts of cloud. Temperatures generally above average by day, but under clear skies could be chilly overnight with mist and fog developing. Northwestern areas seeing some drier and brighter periods but there is a greater risk of further rain at times, even some strong winds. Into the start of October, probably turning more unsettled, particularly in the north and west, with the best of any brighter and drier weather in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 24 Sep 2013 to Thursday 3 Oct 2013:

It will be a dry start for most with variable amounts of cloud, though perhaps some patchy rain in central areas at first, and then again in the far northwest later. Winds mainly light and temperatures above average at first, perhaps warm in the south on Tuesday. Through the week and into next weekend it will stay settled and largely dry across the south and east with clear or sunny spells, feeling pleasant in the sunshine, but rather chilly overnight. There will be an increased chance of rain or showers in the northwest, possibly heavy, and turning breezier too. Through the following week still a good deal of fine weather, but more unsettled conditions will gradually spread from the northwest, and temperatures probably returning to around normal.

A mostly dry start, although variable amounts of cloud could bring one or two showery outbreaks, these most likely in the far north or southwest. Winds will mainly be light, with temperatures near normal or above average through the day, although becoming chilly overnight with some rural grass frosts possible away from the coasts. Next weekend then stays mainly settled and dry, especially across the south and east with sunny spells here. However the north and west is expected to be cloudier and breezier with an increasing risk of rain or showers. Into the following week, signals are for more in the way of unsettled conditions in the northwest, before then spreading to other areas and bringing a cooler feel. However drier and settled conditions may continue in the southeast.

A gradual change to more unsettled weather is signalled, with most places seeing some rain by the weekend. Any drier spells will become interspersed with bands of rain, and there will be the potential for this rain to be heavy and perhaps thundery at times. Whilst temperatures are likely to be around normal, perhaps slightly above normal in the south, a gradually strengthening wind will lead to it feeling rather cooler. Next week is then expected to be changeable, with all areas at risk of seeing some further rain, but there will also be some drier and brighter periods. Temperatures will then stay near normal, although it will be feeling cooler in the often brisk and mainly westerly or southwesterly winds.

Rain is likely to affect northern areas at first on Friday but it should be mainly dry elsewhere with some warm sunny spells. Through Saturday, rain or showers are likely to spread in from the southwest to affect much of the UK. Temperatures will generally be near average but it could remain warm in the south. Thereafter, it is likely to stay unsettled with rain or showers that could well be heavy and possibly thundery. The greatest risk of heavy rain will be across southern areas at first before transferring to northwestern areas later. There should be some drier and brighter intervals, particularly across the south east of England and areas to the east of high ground. Temperatures will be generally near normal but rather cold in the wetter northwest.

The weather is likely to turn increasingly unsettled through the weekend with showers or longer spells of rain across the UK. The rain may be heavy at times, particularly across southern areas. Whilst nights are likely to be mild, daytime temperatures may struggle in the more persistent rain. The unsettled regime looks likely to continue thereafter with a good of cloud giving rain or showers that may be heavy with the risk of thunder. The rain is likely to be heaviest across the south and east at first before transferring to more northern and western areas, where gales may develop with time. There should, however, be some brighter spells, particularly across eastern areas. Temperatures will be cool in the north and west but warmer further south and east.
