UK Outlook for Tuesday 30 Jul 2013 to Thursday 8 Aug 2013:

Remaining mainly unsettled through the last couple of days of July with early showers on Tuesday soon expected give way to cloudier, windier conditions with a spell of more persistent rain. Brighter but showery weather expected to return to many parts mid-week with a chance of thundery showers towards the southeast later next week. The changeable theme then continues through the first part of August, with showers or longer spells of rain particularly affecting northern and western parts, with it also breezy here at times. Some drier, brighter interludes too, especially in southern and eastern areas. Compared to the last couple of weeks, temperatures will be lower: mainly near or perhaps a little above average. As such conditions will feel fresher, especially at night, but still pleasantly warm in sunshine.

UK Outlook for Friday 9 Aug 2013 to Friday 23 Aug 2013:

The balance of probability suggests that changeable conditions currently expected during the first few days of August should persist for at least part of this forecast period. Consequently, further showers or longer spells of rain are likely to affect the UK, perhaps over northern and western parts in particular. There will also be some spells of fine weather, probably most likely in southern regions. Temperatures are considered more likely than not to be at least a little above average and, as such, conditions should feel pleasantly warm during finer spells of weather.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 31 Jul 2013 to Friday 9 Aug 2013:

July will end on an unsettled note with sunshine and showers for many places on Wednesday, and with western and southwestern parts perhaps having a rather cloudy, breezy day with some more persistent rain in places. The generally unsettled theme is expected to continue into the start of August with showers or longer spells of rain particularly affecting northern and western parts, with it also breezy here at times. Some drier, brighter interludes are probable too, especially in southern and eastern areas. Compared to the last couple of weeks, temperatures will be lower, but will still be mainly near or perhaps a little above average for the time of year. As a result conditions will feel fresher, especially at night, but it should still feel pleasantly warm in the sunshine.

UK Outlook for Saturday 10 Aug 2013 to Saturday 24 Aug 2013:

The latest indications are that the changeable conditions expected during the start of August should persist during the middle part of the month. Consequently, although showers or longer spells of rain are likely to affect the UK, these will probably tend to be across northern and western parts more than southern and eastern areas. There will also be some spells of fine and dry weather, particularly over southern and eastern regions, but also for central and some northern parts at times. On the whole, temperatures will probably be around average for the time of year, with some warmer weather possible in the south and east at times.

UK Outlook for Thursday 1 Aug 2013 to Saturday 10 Aug 2013:

A rather unsettled start to August, with a risk of rain or showers in many areas, perhaps thundery in nature towards the southeast, where there is also the potential for some very warm or even hot conditions to develop at first. Thereafter southern and southeastern areas will see an increasing chance of more prolonged drier spells, although with cooler temperatures compared to the start of the month. Elsewhere, the unsettled theme looks set to continue with further showers or longer spells of rain and temperatures generally close to the seasonal average. Western and northwestern areas look likely to see the wettest conditions and it will generally become somewhat breezier. Cooler, fresher night-time temperatures are also expected, especially compared to recent nights.

UK Outlook for Friday 2 Aug 2013 to Sunday 11 Aug 2013:

Friday is likely to be very warm in eastern areas and locally hot in southeast England, although there will also be an increasing risk of thundery rain developing. Elsewhere, there will be a mixture of sunshine and showers and temperatures will probably be closer to normal. During next weekend these somewhat fresher conditions in the north and west will erratically edge eastwards, leading to a risk of further thundery rain in southeastern areas. The unsettled theme will then probably continue, with a risk of rain or showers in many areas, perhaps thundery at times. Southern and southeastern areas will see an increasing chance of more prolonged drier spells and temperatures in these areas may continue to be warm at times. Elsewhere, temperatures will generally be close to average.

UK Outlook for Saturday 3 Aug 2013 to Monday 12 Aug 2013:

This coming weekend, any thundery showers in the east should clear during Saturday, otherwise, generally unsettled with bands of rain or showers affecting many areas, but some sunshine as well. Showers could be heavy, mainly towards the northwest, while southern and eastern areas should see the best of the drier, brighter weather. Breezy, especially in the northwest, where temperatures will be near normal, but warm elsewhere. Into the start of next week, the unsettled theme will probably continue, with a risk of rain or showers in many areas, perhaps thundery at times. There is, however, an increasing chance of more prolonged drier, warmer spells for a time next week, particularly in the south and southeast. Many places could then become noticeably cooler later next week and into the following weekend.

UK Outlook for Sunday 4 Aug 2013 to Tuesday 13 Aug 2013:

Probably dry and warm towards the southeast at first, potentially locally very warm for a time. Otherwise rather unsettled, especially in the north, where it will be windy at times, with gales possible on Sunday. Temperatures here will tend to be nearer normal for the time of year. Thereafter, probably rather unsettled, with the chance of rain or showers in many areas, occasionally heavy. The more persistent rain is likely towards the west and northwest, where windy at times. The best of any drier and brighter weather more likely towards the east and southeast of the UK, and later to the east of high ground. Temperatures will generally be close to average, but perhaps locally warm in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Monday 5 Aug 2013 to Wednesday 14 Aug 2013:

There are signals that next week will continue to be unsettled for many parts of the UK, with most of the rain and showers occurring towards the north and west, whilst remaining drier and brighter towards the southeast. These spells of rain or showers should be interspersed with drier and brighter periods though. Occasionally windy too, but mainly in the exposed north and west. Temperatures should be generally near normal, but feeling cooler in stronger winds and heavier rain, and warmer especially in the south during the brighter, sunnier periods. This general pattern currently looks to persist into the weekend and following week, with rain or showers at times interspersed with drier periods, and temperatures generally close to normal, occasionally warm in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 6 Aug 2013 to Thursday 15 Aug 2013:

Unsettled conditions look likely to continue across many parts of the UK next week with a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers initially. There are signals that a northwest-southeast split will develop by the end of next week, with rain or showers tending to be focussed in the north and northwest where it is also likely to be windy at times. Towards the south and southeast of the country, longer drier spells are more likely but still interspersed with some showers. Temperatures should generally be near normal, but feeling cooler in stronger winds and heavier rain, and warm during the brighter, sunnier periods, especially in southeastern parts. It is probable that this changeable weather will persist into the following week.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 7 Aug 2013 to Friday 16 Aug 2013:

Unsettled conditions are likely to continue to affect the UK through to mid-August. As a result, most parts can expect to see a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers. There are indications of a northwest-southeast split in the weather though, with showers and some longer spells of rain tending to be focussed in the north and northwest, where it is also likely to be windy at times. The south and southeast are better placed to see longer dry periods with more in the way of sunshine, although still with a chance of rain at times. Temperatures are expected to range from around average for the time of year in the southeast to cooler than average in the northwest, especially in any wet and windy periods.

There should also be some spells of fine and dry weather, particularly over southern and eastern regions, but also for central and some northern parts at times. On the whole, rainfall amounts should be around average across most areas. Temperatures may be relatively cool at first but should recover to around average for the time of year towards the end of the month.

UK Outlook for Thursday 8 Aug 2013 to Saturday 17 Aug 2013:

A changeable period, with a mixture of sunny spells and showers, and also the risk of more persistent rain at times. Through next week, the most frequent showers are likely in the north, whilst drier and sunnier weather is more likely in the south. This will lead to temperatures remaining around average in the northwest, but warm at times in the southeast. During next weekend, it will then turn more unsettled with a trend to westerly or northwesterly winds. These could become strong at times, particularly in the northwest, and will bring showers or longer outbreaks of rain here. Whilst the south and east will again see the brightest weather, and fewest showers, these brisk winds will lead to a noticeably fresher feel.

Interestingly the METO seem to appear from that latest update to favour the more amplified solution with the  NW'erly pattern.

I suspect it does to some extent fit the 500mb anomaly assessment although as in my post they were not totally agreed on the actual upper air flow, could be almost west with just a hint of north or possibly more  north of west.

UK Outlook for Saturday 10 Aug 2013 to Monday 19 Aug 2013:

The first weekend should start dry and bright for most, but conditions will soon turn breezier and more unsettled as showers followed by more persistent rain spread east. Temperatures should be mostly near normal, but perhaps warm at times in the southeast, with this split likely to persist into the following working week. Further changeable and often breezy conditions are likely through into mid-August, with showers or longer spells of rain affecting most regions most days, separated by some sunny spells. The south and east are likely to see the brightest weather and fewest showers. Temperatures should remain near or just above average in the main, although there is a small chance of parts of the south becoming very warm locally late in the period.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 20 Aug 2013 to Tuesday 3 Sep 2013:

The broadly unsettled weather type expected across the UK during mid-August is likely to continue into the early part of this forecast period. Thereafter, during late August and early September, no strong signals currently exist as to most likely dominant weather types. As such, most regions can expect to have fine and at least pleasantly warm weather at times, southern and eastern UK likely to see the most prolonged fine spells. Equally some bouts of unsettled weather are also expected, perhaps most likely to the north and west.
