There are signals that the dry and settled weather from the first half of the month should continue across most parts of the UK during at least the first half of this period. This means rainfall should be below average, with mainly above-average temperatures and above-average sunshine amounts.

UK Outlook for Monday 8 Jul 2013 to Wednesday 17 Jul 2013:

Conditions look likely to be fine, dry and settled across the UK throughout much of this period, with some long sunny spells by day. It may often be cloudier across some northwestern parts of the UK with a risk of some rain, particularly later next week. There is also a low risk of an isolated afternoon heavy shower developing over hills through next week and perhaps some cloudier conditions for southeastern areas of England mid-week. Away from the far northwest, it will be warm or very warm, and locally hot over inland central and southern areas. Towards the end of the period, it may turn more unsettled across northern areas, with occasional rain or showers. Fine, mostly dry and warm weather is expected to continue across many southern parts though.

The best of dry, fine weather will probably migrate to the west of the UK early in this period, with northern and eastern parts undergoing something of a cloudier and cooler blip in the generally fine and largely sunny theme. More generally fine and dry conditions should reassert themselves from the first weekend, with very warm and locally hot conditions for many areas, especially in the south, although coasts will remain cooler. Into the final week of the period, although some dry fine and warm weather remains likely, especially towards the south and southeast, conditions are likely to slowly turn more unsettled, at least across northern UK. Occasional rain and showers here are likely to become more frequent and then spread further south and east at times, more likely later.

Into next weekend and through to the following week most areas should continue to see fine and dry weather with plenty of sunshine. The winds should remain mainly light, but breezier at times with temperatures above average, feeling very warm and locally hot. There may be cloud around eastern and western coasts, whilst northwest Scotland is expected to be rather cloudy and cooler with some mostly light rain or drizzle. The rain may turn heavier into the following week and will spread across northern and western parts. Further ahead there is still expected to be some fine, dry and warm weather around, especially in the south and east. Unsettled and changeable conditions are increasingly likely to spread from the northwest
