UK Outlook for Friday 28 Jun 2013 to Sunday 7 Jul 2013:

There will be variable cloud through the weekend, with sunny and bright conditions at times, the best of these in the south and east. Some showery outbreaks of rain are expected at times, these should be mostly light and largely confined to more northern and western areas, where the winds will be brisk perhaps strong at times. During the following week it will probably gradually become rather more unsettled with showers, and locally a few spells of rain, mostly in the north, whilst the south should see more of the drier interludes. Temperatures generally around normal for the time of year, but slightly below in the northwest and perhaps a little above in the south and east.

UK Outlook for Saturday 29 Jun 2013 to Monday 8 Jul 2013:

There should be a good deal of dry weather for many through the weekend, with variable cloud and sunny spells. There may be some outbreaks of rain in central and eastern areas at first, this will soon clear, with further rain reaching the northwest by Sunday. Maximum temperatures likely to be around or a little above normal, becoming warm in some central, eastern and southeastern parts. During the following week it should stay dry and warm in the southeast at first. Elsewhere it will become rather more unsettled, with showers, locally heavy with a chance of thunder, moving in from the west. Later in the week it becomes unsettled for most, with the more frequent and prolonged spells of rain in the north. Temperatures generally around normal and becoming breezier.

UK Outlook for Sunday 30 Jun 2013 to Tuesday 9 Jul 2013:

There should be some dry and bright weather over south-eastern areas of the UK at first but cloud and outbreaks of rain elsewhere are likely to spread south-eastwards through the first part of the week. There will be some clear or sunny periods though. Thereafter conditions look like remaining on the unsettled side and it may be windy at times, especially in the north and west of the UK. Temperatures show signs of becoming nearer normal by the end of the week. For the rest of the period, northern and western areas are most likely to see further rain or showers, with southern and eastern parts seeing the best of any drier, brighter and warmer weather.

UK Outlook for Monday 1 Jul 2013 to Wednesday 10 Jul 2013:

Early patchy rain over northern and western parts of the UK will gradually spread southeastwards through Monday, drier and brighter weather following in its wake. Cloudier conditions with outbreaks of rain then follow for Tuesday, northwestern parts seeing the most persistent rain. Something of a northwest-southeast split then develops for the rest of the forecast period. To the northwest conditions then largely on the unsettled side with bands of rain and occasionally stronger winds, but also some drier periods with sunny spells between. Temperatures here around normal, but feeling pleasant in sunshine. To the southeast, whilst the occasional outbreak of rain or drizzle is still possible, drier, warmer and brighter conditions are expected to prevail. Here, maximum temperatures are expected to be above average during sunnier periods.

Yes John you maybe right. In our day we never made a forecast more than 3 days ahead ! I do remember a forecaster call Ray Beckley ? and he used to name regions in his forecasts (ie ) Chester area/ potteries/ Cheshire peak/wirrel/ Flyde ect. I know that is more localised forecast but it provided an identity to the viewer or listeners, but I feel the Met Office long range is a waste of time as it is mostly vague to say the least. There is a similar long range forecast in Austria and they specify the cantons/ regions of the country and hardly use an imaginary split divide..

Cheers and I do remember your forecasts for The Manchester Basin, Fog or Rain !!

UK Outlook for Tuesday 2 Jul 2013 to Thursday 11 Jul 2013:

Cloudier conditions with outbreaks of rain are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, perhaps persistent over northwestern parts, whilst southeastern UK remains drier and brighter. This northwest-southeast split then persists for most of the period. To the northwest largely unsettled conditions prevail with bands of rain, low cloud and occasionally strong to gale force winds. However there will be drier intervals at times, and temperatures will be generally around normal, but feeling pleasant in any sunnier spells. To the southeast, whilst the occasional outbreak of rain or drizzle is still possible, drier, warmer and brighter conditions are expected to prevail. Here, maximum temperatures are expected to be above average during the sunnier period. These more settled conditions will then gradually edge northwards by the end of the period.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 3 Jul 2013 to Friday 12 Jul 2013:

Unsettled conditions with outbreaks of rain on Wednesday and Thursday, perhaps persistent and sometimes heavy over northwestern parts, whilst southeastern parts may become drier and brighter on Thursday. Thereafter, there are indications that a relatively settled spell of weather will develop across many parts of the UK. However, further spells of rain are likely at times, but these should be less frequent and become increasingly restricted to northern parts of the UK. The overall trend through next week is for the weather across southern parts of the UK to become predominately fine and dry and for these conditions to gradually extend further north with time. Temperatures will generally be close to average at first, turning increasingly warm in the south through next week, perhaps very warm in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Thursday 4 Jul 2013 to Saturday 13 Jul 2013:

Any outbreaks of rain on Thursday will mainly be across northwestern parts of the United Kingdom, with southern and especially southeastern areas having a dry day with some sunshine. Indications are that the generally fine and dry weather across southern parts of the UK will extend further north with time with a relatively settled spell of weather developing across most areas. There is still a chance of spells of rain at times, but these should be less frequent and become restricted mainly to northern parts of the UK. Temperatures will generally be close to average at first, but it is likely to turn increasingly warm in the south through next week, and it may become very warm in the southeast.

Lovely jubbly

UK Outlook for Friday 5 Jul 2013 to Sunday 14 Jul 2013:

There is reasonable confidence that high pressure will build, giving fine and dry weather across most parts of the UK from Friday onwards, with a mixture of variable cloud and sunshine. Some glancing blows from Atlantic weather fronts are still possible across far northwestern parts at times, these fronts bringing some cloud and rain with cooler and breezier conditions, mainly western Scotland and perhaps Northern Ireland. Lighter winds elsewhere with temperatures around or just above normal at first, but a good chance of increasingly warm temperatures during the course of the following week, especially inland, becoming locally very warm in sunny conditions. There is a chance that isolated late afternoon showers may develop inland with this warmth. These drier and warmer conditions should continue into the following weekend.

Well this could be one of the best July's in years coming our way

UK Outlook for Monday 15 Jul 2013 to Monday 29 Jul 2013:

There are signals that the dry and settled weather from the first half of the month should continue across most parts of the UK during at least the first half of this period. This means rainfall should be below average, with above-average temperatures and above-average sunshine amounts.

UK Outlook for Sunday 7 Jul 2013 to Tuesday 16 Jul 2013:

Conditions look likely to be fine, dry and settled across the UK throughout much of this period, with some long sunny spells by day. It may often be cloudier across some north western parts of the UK with a risk of some rain, particularly later next week. There is also a low risk of an afternoon heavy shower developing over hills through next week. Away from the far north west, it will be warm or very warm, and locally hot across central and southern areas by the middle part of next week. Towards the end of the period, it may turned more unsettled across northern areas, with occasional rain or showers. Elsewhere, the fine, dry and warm weather is expected to continue across many southern parts.
