UK Outlook for Saturday 25 Feb 2012 to Monday 5 Mar 2012:

The end of February and the beginning of March looks set to be rather changeable, particularly across the north of the UK, with cloudy, mild and wet periods, punctuated by brighter, colder but showery interludes. During the colder spells these northern areas are likely to see a risk of overnight frost developing, with some snow possible over higher ground. It is also likely to be rather windy at times, with a risk of gales in some places. Further south conditions are likely to be somewhat drier and more settled generally, with the best of any sunshine here and temperatures around, or perhaps slightly above average. However, these areas also subject to some unsettled spells at times, with outbreaks of rain and strong winds, spreading from the north.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 29 Feb 2012 to Friday 9 Mar 2012:

Northern and western parts of the United Kingdom are likely to have generally unsettled weather, with showers and longer periods of rain throughout. These unsettled conditions will probably spread southwards and eastwards during the first week of March, with outbreaks of rain affecting many places. However, southeastern England is likely to stay relatively settled for much of the period and as a result, rainfall totals here will be lowest. Temperatures are likely to be average or a little above average for the time of year, although with frost possible during any quieter, more settled periods, mainly in the south. Strong winds are also likely at times, with a risk of gales around coasts and hills in the north and northwest of the UK.

UK Outlook for Thursday 1 Mar 2012 to Saturday 10 Mar 2012:

Northern and western parts of the United Kingdom are likely to have generally unsettled weather, with showers and longer periods of rain throughout. Temperatures are likely to be often close to or just above average with a chance of some slightly colder interludes later. Southern, eastern and central areas are likely to remain more settled though, and although there will probably be some rain at times, a good deal of dry weather is likely leaving conditions drier than average for the time of year. Temperatures here often mild or very mild, especially at first, though still a chance of occasional overnight frost and fog. Strong winds are also likely at times, with a risk of gales around coasts and hills in the north and northwest of the UK.

UK Outlook for Saturday 3 Mar 2012 to Monday 12 Mar 2012:

Starting mild and dry in eastern parts, however occasionally heavy rain in the west should soon move east on brisk winds, moderating temperatures somewhat. Rain may linger over southern districts for a time into the new week, perhaps bringing some significant rainfall to drier eastern parts. Colder, more showery conditions will increasingly follow from the west, with the showers occasionally wintry in the north. Later in the week and around the following weekend, conditions look to remain rather cold and unsettled, with further rain separated by brighter, more showery interludes, with occasional overnight frosts. Temperatures will be low enough for some snowfall in upland areas, especially in northern UK. Longer drier spells may develop near the end of the period in the north and perhaps too in the west.

UK Outlook for Sunday 4 Mar 2012 to Tuesday 13 Mar 2012:

Outbreaks of rain are expected across most parts at first, perhaps turning heavy, with brisk winds giving a risk of gales in exposed spots. Becoming much cooler than of late. Rain should ease on Monday for a time, although further rain is likely to spread from the northwest through Tuesday with strong winds persisting. Through the remainder of the period, conditions look to remain unsettled, with temperatures generally a little below the average. Further bands of rain are expected to spread from the west through the period, separated by brighter, more showery interludes. Occasional overnight frosts are possible in clearer, quieter spells. Temperatures may be low enough for some snowfall over hills, especially in northern UK.

Colder than of late with rain or showers and hill snow likely just at first, perhaps heavy, with a risk of gales in exposed spots. Cold and largely clear conditions are likely to prevail through Tuesday and Wednesday with a risk of widespread overnight frost, although further wet and windy conditions may return in the northwest. Through the remainder of the period conditions will be changeable, with bands of rain spreading from the west at times to bring cloudy, sometimes windy conditions to the UK, although amounts of rainfall in the south and east are likely to be small. These separated by colder, brighter and more showery interludes. Overnight frosts are likely in clearer, quieter spells. Temperatures may be low enough for some snowfall over hills, especially in northern UK.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 6 Mar 2012 to Thursday 15 Mar 2012:

Cold and largely clear conditions are likely for most at first with a risk of a few wintry showers in southeast England on Tuesday. Widespread overnight frost is expected, though there are indications of less cold and windier conditions spreading to northwestern Britain. Through the remainder of the period, conditions will become more changeable, with bands of rain spreading from the west at times to bring cloudy, sometimes windy conditions to the UK. Amounts of rainfall in the south and east are likely to be small, and it may even stay largely fine here. Colder, clearer and more showery interludes will separate these wetter spells, bringing a risk of overnight frosts. Any rainfall may fall as snow over hills, especially in the north and northwest of the UK.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 7 Mar 2012 to Friday 16 Mar 2012:

Some wet and windy weather is expected to spread across the UK on Wednesday, with strong winds and heavy rain across the north, and some snow over the hills. A drier spell should follow for Thursday but more unsettled weather is expected to return from the north later. The northwest of the country will be relatively mild due to the wind and rain but it will be rather cold and frosty at first towards the southeast. Unsettled weather is likely to last for much of the rest of the period, with milder spells of wind and rain interspersed with cooler, more showery conditions, and snow across hills in the north. The south and east of the UK is likely to see the driest weather though.

UK Outlook for Thursday 8 Mar 2012 to Saturday 17 Mar 2012:

Thursday will be a largely dry day with some sunshine, although outbreaks of rain may affect the far northwest. This rain should extend south on Friday, although parts of southern England may remain dry. Northern and particularly northwestern parts are then likely to remain rather unsettled for much of the rest of the period with temperatures around or slightly below average as well as outbreaks of rain, accompanied by occasionally strong winds and hill snow. Southern and particularly southeastern parts are likely to see more in the way of settled conditions, with temperatures largely above average, although some cooler, more unsettled interludes are likely. Towards the end of the period, more general settled conditions look set to become established, although northwestern areas may see a continuation of the unsettled theme.

UK Outlook for Friday 9 Mar 2012 to Sunday 18 Mar 2012:

Most of the UK will be rather unsettled to start, with outbreaks of rain and strong winds for many parts. However, more settled conditions should gradually spread from the south to most areas, confining the stronger winds, which may reach gale force at times, and outbreaks of rain to more northern and particularly northwestern parts, although even here there are likely to be some more settled periods. Temperatures will be largely around or above average by day, with good spells of sunshine likely at times. However, under clear skies, some chilly nights are likely, with a risk of frost in places. Temperatures across the more unsettled, northern areas on the other hand may be below average at times.

UK Outlook for Saturday 10 Mar 2012 to Monday 19 Mar 2012:

Following some quite changeable weather this week more settled conditions will develop across most of the UK this weekend, then persisting through next week onwards into the middle of March. As such many areas can expect to remain dry or largely dry, though some northwestern parts will be see some rain or drizzle at times, more especially at first and again from the latter part of next week. Otherwise variable, but at times large, amounts of cloud, with southern and eastern parts seeing the best of any sunshine. Daytime temperatures largely mild, and locally very mild, early next week. Some downward trend to near or just below normal maximum temperatures and increasing risk of fog and frost by night later next week. Most likely turning milder again by mid-March.

UK Outlook for Monday 12 Mar 2012 to Wednesday 21 Mar 2012:

Largely dry and settled through this period, with mostly light winds as high pressure lies in the vicinity of the UK. It will be rather cloudy at times, with the best cloud breaks appearing to the lee of high ground. Some patchy light rain and drizzle is possible across exposed parts of the northwest, particularly towards the weekend. With time there is a chance of more persistent rain affecting western areas, with only a low chance of any significant rain across southeastern Britain. Night-time minimum temperatures will generally be very variable, with a continuing risk of occasional fog and frost, perhaps more likely in southeastern areas as a consequence of the increased likelihood of cloud breaks here. Meanwhile, maximum temperatures should be generally around or a little above normal throughout.

Largely dry and settled at first with mostly light winds. It will be rather cloudy at times, with some patchy light rain and drizzle possible, especially in the northwest. There should be some clearer spells too, with daytime temperatures a little above normal where there is some sunshine, particularly in the southeast. Clearer spells give a risk of some mist or fog patches forming overnight. Over the weekend there is a chance of more persistent rain affecting western areas, although this is likely to weaken as it moves across southeastern Britain. Conditions should then turn changeable, with spells of rain, but also some dry and fine periods. Rain is most likely across northern and western areas with strong winds at times, with the lengthiest dry periods in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Thursday 15 Mar 2012 to Saturday 24 Mar 2012:

Most of the UK will be dry at first with some sunny spells, before rain spreads from the west during Friday and over the weekend. Some heavy rain is possible over northwestern Britain, but by the time it reaches southeastern areas it will have eased, and southeastern areas will probably see very little rain. This general pattern will probably continue into the following week, with changeable weather bringing periods of rain to northwestern parts, whilst the southeast stays more settled and drier than normal for the time of year. Northwestern areas will probably see strong winds at times. Temperatures are likely to be mild or very mild at first, but will generally be average or slightly above average, although with overnight frost possible where skies clear during any quieter interludes.

UK Outlook for Friday 16 Mar 2012 to Sunday 25 Mar 2012:

Rain is likely to spread southeastwards across the UK on Friday. This rain may be heavy over northwestern Britain, but by the time it reaches southeastern areas it will be generally lighter and southeastern areas may see very little. The rain will be followed by cooler, showery weather with showers likely to be heaviest and most widespread across the northwest. During the following week the weather over northwestern parts of Britain is likely to remain changeable, with periods of rain and strong winds at times. The southeast will probably remain more settled though, with generally small amounts of rain. Temperatures are likely to be average or above average for the time of year, although with overnight frosts still possible where skies clear during any quieter interludes.

UK Outlook for Monday 19 Mar 2012 to Wednesday 28 Mar 2012:

Many areas are likely to be a little on the unsettled side to start with next week, with outbreaks of rain and, in the north, occasionally strong winds. Southern, eastern and some central parts, however, are likely to be drier and more settled generally, with any rain here being fairly light and patchy. Conditions are then likely to become generally settled and dry across much of the UK later next week onwards into the following week, with good spells of warm sunshine developing by day and fairly chilly nights with patchy fog and a touch of ground frost. Any wetter and windier weather is then likely to be confined to the far north and northwest of the UK by the end of next week.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 20 Mar 2012 to Thursday 29 Mar 2012:

A rather cloudy spell of weather is expected during the early part of next week, this cloud then thick enough for a little rain, mainly in the north and west. Conditions will then soon turn much more settled, during the second half of next week, with much of the following week expected to be mainly fine and dry. However, parts of the far northwest can still expect to occasional cloudier spells with rain at times, whilst across southern UK there is a small chance of a few showers later next week. Daytime temperatures mainly above average where conditions are fine, cooler during cloudier spells or where any sea breezes develop. Often quite chilly by night with a risk of a touch of ground frost or fog patches at times.
