Yeps sorry bout that i accidently delted them in my cache, but i'll get back on that! ;-)

done it!!! lol!!

And as an apology I thought I'd stick in a picture of the same time last year for you to see the difference between this year and last.

As you can see, there is a little more snow to the east of russia, but not an awful lot.

And we are not too different to 10 years ago in 2000.

I know but we don't mention that stuff as we may get into trouble with the "arctic ice" thread :cc_confused:

Latest photo shows growth of our little patch, and fresh bits to the far northern tip.

I checked yesterday and now know the main patch is on a mountain group but is slowly spreading, shouldn't be too long before we get some good action anyways :-)

Also just noticed a slight dusting on the southern end of the norweigein mountains.

Latest pic' shows no snow melt and no fresh snow as such but, at the risk of stepping on the 'arctic ice' thread's toes, the ice sheet north of Canada does show signs of growth? (arrowed)

Why don't we combine both threads? It makes logical sense, because as proven its kind of hard not to venture into discussing the ice to, and the artic sea ice thread isn't particulary alive atm is it? Or am I missing something?

Good chance of decent snowcover over Russia developing during the next week.

Good stuff Blizz'

Looks to have already started with 3 new patches showing up since yesterday and a small patch in Canada.

This link takes you to the precipitaion charts of the GFS for next week, so not withstanding major changes, we can expect srious snow build ups in northern Russia and Canada.

West coast of Norway looks a lot whiter than last week !!

Iceland seems to have had a dumping in one week

http://www.lokalstyre.no/files/havna/havnebilde/havnbilde1.jpg

A dusting in Svalbard also

Obviously this webcam changes by the hour, but that's a serious looking Naval vessel in port today. Plenty of new snow on the mountains also.

Yes I noticed that plus the alps look much more white to. I know striclty we aren't ment to mention ice, but the ice sheet seems to be growing on its southern flank near svalbard aswell, which is quite rare for this time of year or most years.

Not necessarily anything to do with AGW. It just that map shows fragmented ice as solid white (even areas that are just 15% ice and 85% open water), giving the illusion of ice growth when it's actually just breaking up and spreading a bit! Probably best not to drag all that Arctic/AGW stuff into this thread, let it keep its innocence!

Anyway, should see some more snow coverage over western and central Russia and Arctic Canada over the next week, especially towards next weekend.

Good to see snow growing in south central Russia now especially around Lake Baikal

Also the Canadian patch is getting bit thicker.

I never realised that places like Mongolia ans southern Siberia saw such early snow, i always imagined that for the most part the snowfall would be like the sea ice, spreading north to south as opposed to random patches even fairly far south.
