Yep, after the madness of Download festival 2009 this year had another dustdevil tear up the campsite of the festival, lifting bags, tents, gazebos and rubbish 100's of feet into the air. It just skimmed my camp and gazebo, tore one just 5metres from our campsite to shred.

Here is a video from someone in a different section of the camp, it is hilarious and of serious weather note at the same time.

Blimey!! blink.gif

Funny how Glastonbury is remembered for anything but the music. 24th June 2005 : Mud, torrential rain and thunderstorrms spring to mind. I wasn't there but I watched the ITN news reports that evening.

And now a dust devil.

Watch from 47 seconds to 1 minute 9 seconds to see two gazebos literally torn apart. :-o

Phil.

They are fairly common but usually unseen because there's nothing to lift up to show the presence.

Sometimes a line of straw will be lifted after harvest.

Surprising how high the debris goes.

What fun if it had lifted a portaloo :(

Not my video no, I was at the arena watching Megadeth at the time, came back to see the devastation and a gazebo 40ft up in a tree.

There was a small one trying to develop while I was watching a band in the arena, but only lifted a few bits of rubbish, the rest was people standing watching Megadeth play "Tornado of Souls" lol
