May 2010 was largely a rather uneventful month weatherwise with almost persistent blocking. There were one or two convective days which produced some of the more interesting skies of the month. I think if I had to choose, the most notable spell of weather was the glorious spell from 20th-25th which gave four days of almost completely clear skies.

Monday 03rd

The Bank Holiday Monday brought some intermittent heavy showers, some with hail from a chilly northerly.

Monday 10th

Although not a wet day, there were some interesting mammilary skies on this day, still from a northerly.

Sunday 30th

Possibly one of the breeziest days of the month but some quite impressive cirrus clouds appeared during the late afternoon.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
