The volcano had a brief lull today, stopping the worst of its emissions and noise for a period. This seemed to happen at the same time as increased seismic activity in the south of the Island near Fuencaliente, although 10km deep!.

They have a cam viewing the west coast of La Palma now with the lava encroaching in the distance.

The lava has reached the sea,...also a new vent has opened up

Spreading out well...

The lava must have accelerated massively overnight.

And now they have vog to cope with as well.

Meanwhile a lot tremor activity on the Reykjanes peninsula although apparently it's not volcanic in nature. Nobody knows if the eruption is over or it's getting ready to start elsewhere.

Yesterdays drone flight over (and into)the Iceland crater..

...and live, ...a large crowd expecting the increased tremor activity to result in a new eruption any second...

Brilliant isn't it. Something for the tourists too look at. I liked it how the wave got evaporated before landing.

Iceland the tremors going nuts a bit like they were before the eruption started.

Getting the general feeling the La Palma volcano is set for high activity quite some time adding a significant amount of "new land" to the lava delta. New vent opened last night and watching the flows and vents it doesn't look like slowing down anytime soon.

Devastating for the residents on the island of course but fascinating to watch new land being created in a fashion humans could only dream of.

Involcan have just posted some video of the new lava flow.

Better height showing how far from the original flow the new vent is. A shame for people who may have thought their houses had dodged the bullet.

Found this snippet on Volcano discovery

Volcanic tremor remains stable at moderate to high levels, indicating a constant flux of magma to the surface. Further below, new earthquakes at 10-15 km depth beneath the central part of the volcano continue along with renewed ground deformation. This likely suggests that magma intrusions at depth, similar to the one before the eruption, are occurring and might either join the existing eruption, stall and stagnate again, or perhaps even cause the openings of new vents.

Other bits of interest

Vulcano alert level has been raised to yellow due to increased fumarole activity and small internal tremor related to the increased gas release source
