Watching on TV, awesome, becoming more explosive in nature.

Imagine watching these livestreams and actually seeing the flank break off and slide down in front of your eyes

I'm quite concerned that this thing is building up to something quite devastating.

Moving steadily towards the sea....amazing how building on a little rise has saved some houses

The Pit likes proper diasters you can see and admire like volcanoes and hurricanes etc etc....

The canary island finally erupted then, last time it was 1971.

Also It will be six months on Sunday that the volcanic eruption currently mesmerising spectators near Reykjavik first began, making it the longest Iceland has witnessed in more than 50 years.

I find them interesting mesmerising I can watch lava fountains and flows for hours . Like suggests I enjoy what's happening to people which I don't.

People live near volcano's as they provide rich soils for crops. The volcano's give and take but are in long run more constructive than destructive. Without them we wouldn't have the planet we got today.

The most enjoyable eruption I've had is the present one in Iceland. Threat to life apart from idiots who walk on lava or climb the eruptive vent zero.

No natural event is a catastrophe or disaster, they are part of the natural world and cycles of the planet. The only time they are labelled disasters are when humans get in the way.

La Palma declared disaster zone! More evacuations after increasing explosive activity and powerful shock waves – New vent – Flights canceled.

As I expected, this has gotten much worse.

I'm going to have to look up the longest eruption in La Palma.

The due explosions are due to large bubbles of gas and the shock waves are strong enough to break glass up to 3km. Scientists now don't expect the lava to read the sea which is good news.

As we get more and more dependant on technology events like this get more serious for local populations.

Notice the eerie face in the ash cloud when it happens on this clip.  Numerous shockwaves and minor explosions yesterday.  During the night parts of the main cone flank has started to disintegrate and is falling into the smaller vent below.  Fascinating but very hard for the locals.

You will not get much better coverage of the eruption than from the Spanish Geological and Mineral Institute. They had several drones up earlier,  the debris being emitted must make these quite vulnerable.

This noise must be similar to living near a RAF airbase in 1983 with Vulcan bombers taking off in series.

Back to Iceland, a very good drone footage of the stalled eruption.

Who knows what comes next, has the Canaries taken the Magma?

It will no doubt start again however, previous volcanoes in this area have become 10 times as large.

Night time footage from La Palma , shows how fast the lava is flowing from new vent.

Pity it's on pause I enjoyed watching it, Tremour did zoom up a few days then stalled and dropped down again. So it's gone into a long sleep at the moment.
