Yep that was amazing, the way it even twisted the lava, so glad I saw that, as it happened.

Lava tornados better than bonfire night

The smoking has been attributed to Pele's tears which has been setting fire to moss.  This would explain down wind smoking but not where the smoke was present before the fountaining started so probably a combination of both. Fumarole activity would be expected close the dyke and tot he right of Rag.

I wonder if that's the eruption that caused the smoke that you can see left of number 5 more burning moss?

Well the fountains may have stopped and activity in Bob again plus a second vent opening in Rag.

Bob seems to have shut down again and the 2nd vent in rag has gone as well. No more fountains and just a steady flow from Rag

I noticed at about 11:40 it carries lava off past the flow margin which contributes to more smoke later on, presumably moss/grass fires.

Flank collapse at 8:46 local time this morning, and 8:59 had a particularly high fountain... spot the people to give a sense of scale!

It only did one more fountain after this one, before someone pressed the 'slow but continuous' button. Even after it died for about 10 minutes like usual it didn't fountain again interestingly enough, just started the continuous flow.

I wonder how far smaller pieces of tephra that aren't picked up on camera get lifted in the rapidly rising hot air.. which presumably cause the grass/moss fires if hot enough. I noticed small pieces falling at the camera location a few minutes after that fountain.

You can still rewind to the time of the above fountain for about 2 hours after my post

Interesting the second vent has just re-appeared in rag. I wonder if it will stop cycling again like before.

I see they are trying to build a wall to stop the lava advance. Very doubtful it will work it's been done in Hawaii and failed. Tried on Etna it will only work if the eruption eases otherwise the pressure will build and overwhelm it.

Rag-nar is still going strong with a nice wall collapse in the mix...

Rag still going well replacing the collapsed walls very rapidly and still growing. Bob will soon be underneath Rag and gone forever. Rag also has a little business with those puny walls and show them who's boss. A slight redirection in flow should do the trick.

Looks like it's ready to crush the wall very soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA-9QzIcr3c

At the moment it seems the lava is being redirected mainly away from the walls so they are not being tested at the moment. However a blockage in the Lave Levee may change all that.

Going to one hell off a collapse soon. Look at the growing crack in the cone
