Sadly no camera's with a good view. The one closet was taken off line by two gentlemen while I watched. Perhaps they are gong to move it closer who knows.

That's the one they moved it. Quite a small eruption I wonder if more fissures will open or will just centre at one vent then die away

The crack is 180 meters and only part of it is active

"This turns out to be a very small eruption and as we look at it more closely, it decreases," said geophysicist Páll Einarsson in RÚV's extra news program on television at noon. He said it was difficult to assess the situation in the dark of night. "The eruption fissure that turns out to be about 200 meters long," said Páll. At first it was thought to be up to 700 meters.

"Part of it is already inactive," Páll said. The eruption fissure is 180 meters long.

On the webcam, there's a group of around 8 people standing right in the path of the lava flow lol!

I'm sure it's not the end of an eruption, I think it'll carry on for a few weeks. You can't have that many earthquakes for such a piddling little thing like that.

Let's just hope it doesn't do a 'Laki' on us, although the way the past year has gone, it wouldn't surprise me

There's been a few people milling around ahead of the right magma tongue this afternoon, doing a few searches and it turns out they were archaeologists doing some rapid field-work on a pre Christian burial grave before it got covered over permanently by the magma. I'm more surprised that for a 'no fly zone' there's been Helicopters & Drones all around the fissure today.

I think there's a new set of fissures under the main lava field to the left. You see some weak fountaining going on.

Nú er sléttur sólarhringur frá því að eldos hófst við Fagradalsfjall í Geldingadal. Hraunbreiðan sem hefur myndast síðan þá sífellt að stækka og straumurinn er nokkuð stöðugur.

This is a good live cam with sound. Quite relaxing actually.

No sound for me anyway the eruption must have slowed a bit overnight and the lave field hasn't spread much further by the looks of it.
