Indeed! there was talk of dykes being intruded recently so there is magma to tap into but this is a big and shallow quake? I wonder what gave and what the results will be? One to watch?

El Heirro may have broken the surface!

The explosions are following one another every 10 to 15 minutes … Large clouds of gas, steam and pyroclastic products. Magma is being ekected and with with the night falling, we start to see the redness … The ciprissoid jet can be seen with almost each explosion …

The eruption has stopped for now!

Scientists in La Restinga and Guardia Civil who is currently flying over the earlier jacuzzi location have reported that the vent has probably closed completely. The activity has completely stopped at the moment. The Roman Margaleff Oceanographic ship is now close to the eruption vent is is problably taking gas samples and water samples.

We expect to publish images soon.

The closure of erupting vents is a normal phase in this kind of activity. This does not mean that the volcano activity is completely over. If the volcano continues in the same pattern, the seismic activity may getting stronger again as the magnma trying to find his way to the surface has been blocked.

Popocapetyl had a brief explosion early afternoon Mexico time, the plume from the short bust was carried 5km and thanks to clear-skies around Mexico City many people witnessed the event.

Colombian volcano alert raised to orange

The Galeras volcano in Colombia's western department of Nariño could erupt within weeks or days, according to authorities.

The level of volcanic activity was increased to orange alert Thursday 9PM by the Colombian Geological Service and the Volcanology and Seismology Observatory of Pasto, which are monitoring the activity of Galeras.

The institutions stated that in the last 24 hours, tremors have been registered that have similar characteristics to those in the period prior to the majority of eruptions, which occurred between 1992 and 2010.

There has been a reduction in the emission of gases, reflected in the low values of sulphur dioxide measured, both coming from craters and fields of volcanic fissures.

Some 8,000 people live in the area surrounding the volcano that reawakened in 1988.

The Colombian Geological Service will continue to monitor the situation of the Galeras volcano.

Volcano Eruption in Ecuador on Monday, 28 November, 2011 at 04:21 (04:21 AM) UTC

The Tungurahua volcano in Ecuador is spewing out red-hot rocks and billowing coarse ash. The South American country’s Geophysical Institute says the increased activity began Sunday afternoon. It says the volcano has thrown pyroclastic boulders up to a mile from the crater, and there have been at least four earthquakes in the area. The 16,480-foot (5,023-meter) volcano is in a sparsely populated area about 84 miles (135 kilometers) southeast of Ecuador’s capital, Quito. It has been active since 1999.

Four Villages Evacuated As Volcano Begins To Erupt In Ecuador

Four Ecuadorean villages are being evacuated after a volcano close to the country's capital began spewing smouldering rock and billowing columns of ash.

The government is urging 700 people living beside the Tungurahua volcano near Quito to leave the area as soon as possible.

Tungurahua - which means 'Throat of Fire' in the indigenous Quechua language - has been active since 1999 but began erupting violently on Sunday, sending red-hot clouds of gas up into the atmosphere..........http://www.dailymail...o=feeds-newsxml

A plume of smoke comes out the Tungurahua volcano after it erupted as seen from Cotalo, Ecuador, Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011. Ecuador's Geophysical Institute said the volcano's increased activity that began Sunday, is billowing columns of ash, sending superheated clouds of gas down the slopes and cascading hot rocks from the summit.

As was thought When "that" Icelandic volcano erupted last year, it's often followed after a period of time by an eruption at the much bigger and scarier Katla.

As per http://www.bbc.co.uk...europe-15995845 is seems as if this is getting close now, with frequently earthquake swarms, evidence that Magma is rising rapidly upwards and lots of extra monitoring going on.

It doesn't mean that an eruption is going to happen this month, but the signs of it erupting at some point in the near future are getting much stronger.
