So Thats Why Can't Get Online...

Recommended Posts

Yeah, hopefully they will get it fixed soon. Perhaps it forgot it was a leap year lol? Decided to leave the PS3 off till others work. Wouldn't want to do any damage to it!

Apparently its just the "fat" PS3's that have problems.

If you havent had your PS3 plugged into the net for a while ( offline games work ) dont plug it in yet, As you will probably download the broken firmware.

Thanks for posting this Mark, haven't been online on the PS3 for a couple days so will probably leave it till the issue is resolved. At least the machine hasn't broken down like an 360 would whistling.gif

A friend of mine told me about this so I switched it on and the same error code came up. Hopefully they will be able to find the problem and fix this via a firmware update.

As for the 360 well im on my 4th console now which is frankly ridculous. Still I have numerous movies stored on my PS3 HDD so I won't be bored.

Been out all day so haven't been on it yet. Just tried it there and it comes up with the error message. Had my PS3 since start of 2008 never had any problems with it and this problem is just a bug nothing wrong with the actual system.

As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

Errors include:

  • The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
  • When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the following
message appears on the screen; "An error has occurred. You have been
signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)".
  • When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears
on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; "Failed to install
    trophies. Please exit your game."
  • When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the
Internet, the following message appears on the screen; "The current date
and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)"
  • Users are not able to play back certain rental video downloaded from the
PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

As mentioned above, please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Thats why I play Nintendo Wii online lol....... :cold: But seriously I would get a PS3 anyday over the XBOX 360, because of all the hidden costs within the 360, after getting the console you have to buy the adapter for the wireless, which costs about £60 then you have to pay £40 for XBOX live every 12 months and thats not even thinking about the game costs.....

Oh and usually your XBOX will have problems after a couple of years at most!

Sony should fix it pretty soon otherwise im sure their reputation will spiral downwards!
