It seems likely that there will be a rise in temperatures during this period with temperatures returning to near average across a large swathe of the UK, although below average temperatures could persist across some northern and western areas of the UK. Rainfall is expected to be near average in the north and east, but remaining parts of the UK are expected to see rainfall amounts of either above or well above average. Sunshine amounts are expected to be above average in the north and east with average amounts expected elsewhere in the UK.

Temperatures will remain close to normal but with still some risk of night frost, especially in the north and sheltered inland parts.

equally I am sure that most Met forecasters are aware of what the word means-we always had an OED at our side when writing media releases!
