I was wondering how many of us have not recorded double digit temps since the start of December. My last one was around 9th (Dec). I have never known such a long run where i have not got to 10c. If the GFS was correct i still would not have achieved it by the 15th of March! Was it pretty normal for it to happen in winters past? It sure doesn't seem normal for recent winters :)

December 9th was my last DD temperature, when recording 11.4c at precisely 13:56 that very day, oh how I love my Davis. air_kiss.gif

Also of note this February, is how the wind direction has been consistently from the ENE or NE in my neck of the woods for 21 out of the 27 days so far.

Amazing stuff.

Kind Regards

Bizarrely, 27 Jan recorded 11ºC here. Before that it was 8 Dec when we reached 10ºC.

The last time I recorded double figures at this station was on the 7th December, 10.1c.

The highest temperature since then is 9.0c on the 25th of this month.

Though two miles away from here, the chap at Rosliston station recorded 10.1c on the 24th of this month.

Had to do a bit of digging...

10.6C on Dec 10th, 11.6C on Dec 9th, and a balmy 13.1C on Dec 8th!

All 3 days however managed overnight mins of 4-5C, which isn't particularly mild.

It was a S-SE airflow, if I recall correctly.

Its not uncommon to get double figure mins at that time of year, with a humid SW'ly airmass, for instance.

Many lower lying areas in this region recorded double digits on Wednesday/Thursday this week, but where I live it didn't get that high, so the last was on 11 December!

Yesterday here with a max of exactly 10.0C!

Before that the 3rd Feb with a max of 10.5C.

Then the 22nd Jan with a max of 11.1C, and 3 days from the 16th-18th Jan with 11.6C on the 17th, which happened to be milder than any day in Jan 2009.

Then before that the 10th Dec.

So although mostly cool/cold there has been the odd milder days/spell thrown in down here.

Today is threatening 10C too with the temp currently at 9.7C which is the high so far today.

Reached 10.9C at Cambridge university's weather station today. Before that was the 4th or 5th of Feb, but before that was the 9th December!

Reached a very mild 11.6c on Wednesday which was the highest level since late November, and the first double figure reading since December 11th.

We've had 10 deg C+ three times so far this year, but not at all between early December and early February. The last few are today (10.2), Feb 24 (10.6), Feb 5 (10.8 ) and Dec 9 (11.7).

The last time here was Nov' 24th. February's highest max so far is 5.9c which, bar some unexpected mild incursion tomorrow, will be the lowest for any month since Feb' 1986.

Feb' 1986 is in a league of its own with a highest max' of 0.7c but March 1996 is almost equally remarkable for the time of year with a max' of 7.5c. I'm hoping for a repeat of that one but with more snow.

Dec 5th 2009 and after 10th Dec nowhere near recording double figures. In recent years very odd indeed.

I'm amazed that even today in the sunshine we didn't quite get to 10C - very close though at 9.7C. I think if it hadn't started raining at midday and then not properly cleared after, we may have managed it in some sunshine. Looks like both January and February will pass here without double digits being recorded.

We've come close on quite a few occasions at intervals this winter. 9.5C (Jan 18th), 9.6C (Feb 05th), 9.7C (Feb 24th), 9.7C (today).

Before that it was December 10th.

The last time here was Nov' 24th.

Same here...11.1C on that day. I'm showing a mean temp for February of 0.9C so far, and it looks like my mean temperature for the winter's going to be 0.6C. That's really quite cool. Edited by Osbourne One-Nil
