Just watched Rob on the BBC weather and he is up to his little sayings again he said 'It doesnt look much like winter on Friday with these temperatures however that's Friday'.

Just a few weeks ago he said on a forecast 'and then there is Monday ha ha ha'.

Seems to me that he is sure of the very cold returning but what do they know at the BBC after the forecasting of late, but it's a very interesting situation when Rob says things like that he is the only forecaster I take notice of.

There is a small chance, but only a small chance. It will be very shortlived, milder air will filter in on Thursday

Sleety rain here - is that a technical expression?? LOL

I had so many people complaining that there was snow on the forecast yesterday - what's wrong with them?? Lucky I can come here to feed my addiction because I can't admit it to them!

Ooops - edited to add that some wet flakes are coming down now

Oh no - back to sleet. No chance of anything settling though - too wet.

Turned back to light rain now but left a covering on grass and cars after about an hour of heavy snow. Quite a bonus when I wasn't really expecting anything!

Its the track and intensity of the LP which is within +120 that makes all the difference. Until the models figure out the track and intensity of this LP the positioning and orientation of the block is uncertain.

Beyond +168 and we can clearly see what I mean't by the PV in my previous post.

Fasintating model watching at the moment.

Do you agree that Snow Showers are likely Sunday/Monday for EA , Links and East Midlands. This is almost within 72 hours now.

I'm sorry but it's not 'froth,' it is well known all over the world animals have certain behaviours they exhibit before the weather changes for the worst.

When the 2004 Tsunami struck South Asia there was a very low count for loss of wildlife, no dead uncaged animals (including Elephants who have been well documented as having reacted very strongly just before the disaster) were found in the path of destruction.

And never underestimate Mother Nature, she is after all a Woman

I have to disagree and as this is a scientific forum (weather is a science) I will attempt to give you a scientific answer.

Animals have much more highly tuned senses than human beings and can react to changes in air pressure (which is a prelude to changing conditions) or in the case of the tsunami the vibrations given off by the earth in the hours preceding a major quake. Because our senses are more more nullified it appears to us that the animals are prediciting events, but they are actually reacting to events.

It might be that if there is frigid weather to our east that seagulls would temporarily migrate from that part of the world for richer pickings here (as would be the case now, 1987, 1991 and numerous other occasions), however that does not mean that that weather will eventually move this way, although there is of course always a chance.

If you or anyone else wants to present me with some scientific evidence rather than opinion to back claims that nature is predictive then I would be happy to read it, but I suspect it will be hard work finding any.
