Well, I've just purchased the NW radar and I must say... I'm very impressed! With the radar not the pptn :(

Temps have dropped enough for us to have light flakes blowing around again in the breeze, bye bye rain and snizzle!

As I have said many times today, it is not the precipitation that is the primary concern, it is the temperatures and dew points, which are fine for falling snowfall, but for settling snow it is ultra-marginal, with only high ground getting it.

It might come in handy next winter. :p

Maybe in February there will be more snow.

Our last chance of any significant snow for this month is Wednesday I think.

It really is an excellent tool. For £3.49 per month it's a steal! A million miles better than the Met Office free one. It is also very useful for summer storms.

Light to moderate snow here. There seems to be something wrong with the METO radar as it's not picking it up.

The radar has been all over the place for the entire cold spell. Very strange.

Just one or two flakes floating around in the wind.

Not looking too good now but at least the thaw is still very slow.

grrrr looks like another disappointing end to a promising set of snow events..........looked so good this time yesterday......

Not getting my hopes up for Tuesday/Wednesday now prob end up as heavy sleet and 2cwallbash.gifwallbash.gifwallbash.gifunknw.gif I think it will definitely need to come through the night time for anything to happen.

Only positive is the roads are mainly ok for driving now.

Actually appears to be raining here now with one or two big flakes floating down with it.

Tuesday/Wednesday is not even worth bothering about IMO. Will be a total non-event for the Midlands. Think about it... If it's rain/sleeted today with upper air temps of -8 to -9 then what hope do we have on Tuesday/Wednesday when they are around -2 to -3?

Someone please type LE3 into the postcode zoom, the snow shield has come back from the dead :)

Gap in the PPN... STRAAAIGHT over LE3.

Quite nice light/moderate snow falling here... the thaw (if it's happening) is going very slow, since there's still quite alot of snow of the roofs opposite me. They're usually the first to go.:wallbash:

Turning back to snow here again. I'm wondering if it was rain i saw or just very tiny flakes. The fact that there was just the odd big snowflake floating down amongst suggested that it was rain/sleet.

I think it's raining here a bit too, I thought it had all stopped and our thaw had stopped and we were seeing snow flakes but looking out on the road, there are now big patches of tarmac showing through and something seems to be coming down from the sky and washing it all away.

My children are gutted They only got one snow day last week (their teachers are very determined to keep the schools open despite all the others round here being shut for 3 days!). They were certain tonday and tonight would bring enough to keep them off again and none of us anticipated the snow actually going today B)
