Here in Jarrow we have a total whiteout at the moment.Snow started to fall at 11.30pm and it has steadily increased in intensity. The wind is really strong and gusty too.Looks like a very good night to come!!

LOL ;) Right on the cusp!

Still glad to see some areas getting a pasting with plenty more to come by the look of the radar.

A good covering here now, but not what I would call Heavy snow....yet... But its does look more intense further East.

This is always the case with a N'ly. Its hit an miss for Tyneside, slightly better for Wearside, Better again for Teeside. But if you want to feel the full force you need to be in NE Scotland. They absorb most of the snow that should come here. I spoke to a mate up there at lunch time (Aberdeen) and they already had 3" of lying snow.

As soon as we get a NW component then you can forget about snow here (which is happening later tonight), but NE Scotland is totally exposed to NW, N, NE, E, SE.

Is it just me or is the band pushing inland a little?

Hope your right. Next radar will be make or brake here!

Anyone got a button on there computer that turns a northerly into a ne`ly?

Seems to be pushing quite a fair way inland around Sunderland- oddly it's as if the band is heading slightly west as well as south, even though the surface wind is west of due north.

Yes the band seems to be losing intensity but spreading over a wider area.

Still nothing really significant here, falls have been light to moderate over the last 5 mins and everything starting to look that little bit whiter now. But it's very windy so the snow is blowing around to the corners. I'm tempted to go for a walk out. ;)

If you look at the latest satellite picture on sat24 there seems to be a fair easterly push coming across the North Sea behind this lot, I wonder if that might help a bit? Not far from Newton Aycliffe here so I'm hoping so. Drive to work in Teeside tomorrow ought to be fun though!

Light snow blowing around like crazy here at the mo.
