All, what's the consensus about this weeked's supposed event? The various sites/forecasters seem to have no clue as to what is happening:

Metcheck are forecasting heavy rain ;) for tomorrow and sleet on Sunday.

The Beeb and Sky are ramping it up to be a major snow event every forecast.

Meto have orange warnings for Sussex and Kent

NW has the PPN type being snow all through to Monday but the PPN chance charts show a decrease to 60% on Sunday.

This is a tad confusing ;)

Anyone got any ideas?

DS

Well for a start I dont take any notice of the Metcheck forecast, its rubbish

I am so tired of waiting for an odd shower to deliver three flakes. It's petulant I know, BUT I WANT PROPER SNOW.

So far the pre-christmas fall gave me more snow than this entire period. I want snow like I remember as a kid, with hours of snow in a E/NE gale, where you can't see 50 yrds, where the snow is deep enough to prevent traffic, and kerbs disappear, and everything gets quiet and muffled.

I am in prime position for a proper fall in a continental air driven cold period, and am now aggrieved at a mere 4 inches. I know others have less, but yes I am being greedy.

The weather in the country drives me MAD.

I was so looking forward to a Mediterranean climate, but am now being driven to distraction by insufficient cold weather - Ridiculous.

Feel better now, rant over.

Know what you mean I have square eyes from Reading net weather a crick in my kneck from looking out the window my neighbours think I'm a peeping tom I guess and just a few flurries today it's pretty out but sooooo frustrating

Woohoo

Interesting developments off the Coast of Essex, there is a band of very convective showers which is now moving towards the Essex and Suffolk Coast, Very Heavy Snowfall in this and run the radar to see where this lot is heading.

Where is Steve Murr - He will like the look of the 1945 and 2000 radar scans

Paul, put us out of our misery. This streamer to our east is winding me up now

This really has just been a Kent and coastal Essex/coastal Suffolk event the past few days. Quite frustrating as nothing wants to make it much inland. They just fizzle out or steer towards the very far south-east.

If you watch the Dutch radar all the major show activity is curving round and missing the East Anglian (can I say that here?) coast and heading straight for North Kent.

I think if you are in Essex, most of it is going to only skim the coast ocaasionally. Dull, dull, dull.

Going to watch nothing on tv.

Im in Sutton thats just in Surrey but it's also in south west London confusing unsure.gif either way not a lot going on here at the moment cloudy and cold

Yep, same here. Surrey never does very well from a north easterly though. London seems to deflect the showers to the north or south, or just goble them up

Good idea with the new thread Paul, bit easier to keep up with! :o

Anyway, not hopeful of any further snowfall tonight really. It seems the showers are staying just off of the Essex coast and heading into Kent. Currently -2.8 DP -4 and Windchill -8  . Roads are really bad, black ice will be a major problem tonight even on the main routes!

Hows it looking for sunday? Some are saying essex will miss out others are mentioning that a foot of snow is coming :o !

Matt :good:

On BBC Weather's interactive forecast, the blizzard they're warning the public about in Germany appears to move off east, rather than towards us. Is this not the system that's going to cross us on Sunday? cc_confused.gif

That snow is in relation to the Low that tracked up from the Med, the snow for late Saturday into Sunday is from an upper warm front. The fax chart shows this.

I know what you mean - but I think the weekend will deliver big time starting tomorrow afternoon and that is something that will be more in line with what you remember - Let's hope so anyway!

I might be imagining things but is the darkest red on the radar scans moving straight West now, right towards us? Plesae say the wind's changed a bit!
